Financial institutions are heavily dependent on models in nearly all functions within the organization. Models are used in approving loans for consumers and businesses, detect fraud, predict customer behavior, and manage capital planning. Following the financial crisis, regulatory scrutiny of models has increased considerably, and it has become mandatory for banks to manage and govern their use of algorithmic models. Typically, after a model has been built, it has to be documented and validated by a Compliance team before they give approval for deployment. However, that process is very inefficient in most financial institutions today. It relies on manual work to write and review documentation, and is prone to human errors. As a result, those activities often end up delaying model deployment, and lead to suboptimal model risk management. CertifIQ aims to make documentation and validation easier, faster, and error-proof. We are developing a solution to automate the compliance review process for algorithmic models in Financial Services, to help reduce the compliance burden while enabling the institution to get models into production faster to realize business value. CertifIQ is backed by and has raised a pre-seed round from Andrew NG and his AI Fund, and we are looking to build a prototype of our product.
