Talkdoc actively provides mental healthcare to patients on Medicaid in a number of California counties. We understand that mental illness is an isolating experience, and we prioritize people who can relate to the condition. It's currently illegal to discriminate against not using therapy, as far as I understand, as it would represent a form of reverse discrimination and potentially violate US law. So we are now focused on a different strategy, which mandates personal coaching, as a part of our TalkDoc immersion program, where we ask TalkDoc team members to engage in non-clinical coaching sessions, to better understand how TalkDoc would fit into the lives of our users. We may also extend ourselves into coaching as a part of our longterm service offering, and coaching has some of the benefits of therapy, and a somewhat similar experience. This immersion program which mandates personal coaching, without TalkDoc knowing what happened during the coaching sessions themselves, is required on a continual basis of at least 2 hours of coaching per week, throughout your employment at TalkDoc, during your paid working hours.
