Saccadous careers
Saccadous, Inc. is a digital health startup providing a simple, non-invasive platform for detecting and monitoring the treatment of neurological diseases (Alzheimers, Parkinsons) as well as conditions like Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This is done through the capture and analysis of eye-movements at the microsaccade level.
During visual fixation, the eyes are never completely still, but produce small involuntary movements, including microsaccades, drift, and tremor. Researchers at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, have proven that the many microsaccade attributes, when compared, show patterns that can be used to identify and differentiate subjects with certain afflictions.
Saccadous, Inc. was founded and awarded initial funding in January 2014, through the ASU “Furnace” technology transfer accelerator. Saccadous has licensed and is commercializing a bundle of patents from based on this research.
