NEye Systems develops programmable photonic integrated circuits that integrate high-radix optical circuit switching on silicon chips. These optical switches aim to address challenges in AI and machine learning systems by reducing power requirements and facilitating network expansion. The company's technology, based on over a decade of research from Professor Ming Wu's lab at UC Berkeley, utilizes MEMS-based silicon photonics to create wafer-scale optical circuit switches. These switches are designed to provide direct optical connections among GPUs and memory units, potentially enhancing performance and scalability in data centers. NEye Systems has secured funding from investors, including CapitalG, M12, Micron Ventures, and NVIDIA.​
