Culture and benefits at Modulate

Culture overview

Here are some of our key cultural tenets (more info at modulate.ai/careers): We believe in ownership and responsibility. If you’re an employee here, we want you to feel a real sense of ownership in the company. You can’t have that without autonomy, so we strive to create a culture in which you can trust that we’re ok with you doing something else if you believe it’s more important - and we can trust that you’re doing the most valuable things. Our company originated out of a passion for exciting ideas and the belief that we can play a real role in building the future of technology. Obviously we're still a company with real financial obligations, but within that constraint we want to focus on perpetuating that overall enthusiasm around building something fundamentally new - with all the challenges that includes! Relatedly, we want to improve the world, not just change it, which means we're always conscientious about the ethical implications of what we're building. We all share common interests in Modulate’s mission, and are generally smart, capable people. Everything else is subject to be totally different person-to-person - so take care not to make assumptions, and aim to create environments that permit as many kinds of people and perspectives as possible. Success doesn’t just happen - it requires constant iteration. So we encourage giving feedback as frequently as you’ve got it, and asking for it whenever you feel it’s missing. Remember that when you're giving difficult feedback, your goal isn't simply to say the words. Rather, it’s to help the recipient understand and to understand what to do about it. So always think carefully about how best you can help the recipient with the feedback you’re giving! We also have a number of more specific strategies - from User Guides to Daily Updates to our unique Reviews process - which we use to reinforce this culture, and we're always eager for feedback if and when we stray from these ideals.
