People at mandatum
150 species disappear every day while nature conservation has a $700 billion a year financing gap. On the other hand, there are business practices that are “negotiable” for shoppers and brands in convenience shopping. For instance, on every $100 shoppers pay for durable goods, up to $40 go to “immediacy” (Inventory ready, Inventory Costs, middleman, 1-day “free” shipping, quick packaging, more transportation, brick and mortar costs, quick turn-around process, last mile). An "immediacy" that is expensive for brands and shoppers, harmful to the environment, and unsustainable. Quick math, the USA durable goods annual GDP is $1.5 Trillion, and if we apply the $40 to $100, $600 billion go to immediacy. We could close the nature conservation gap with the money we spend on immediacy when shopping for durable goods. The 2020s is the decade for the climate change fight. Ecommerce cannot be an exception as living sustainably is our only option to save the planet. Sooner or later, we have to shop the mandatum way. It is a long shot but we already started. If we add the fact that mandatum makes products more affordable to shoppers and more profitable to brands, there is a great stimulus to protect our forests and oceans at no cost to anyone.
