Ember Dating App careers
Ember is a global dating app for people who want something real, built so language and distance stop deciding who you get to know.
Most dating apps assume your world is a few miles wide. Ember puts verified members on a live world map instead, so a connection can start three streets away or three time zones away. Every message translates live in both directions across more than 100 languages: you write in yours, they read in theirs. Voice and video calling are built in, so members can talk before they ever share a phone number.
Trust comes first. Every profile must pass a government ID check and a liveness check before anyone can see it, and nationality and age come from the ID itself, not from what someone types. Locations on the map are approximate to protect privacy.
Beyond chat, Ember gives people slower, more thoughtful ways to connect: Letters, one long-form letter a day that both people write before either can read; Right now, a board of who's awake in which cities and at what local time; and Second Guess, a short prediction game that turns into a first conversation.
The why is personal. Founder David Harrison is a U.S. Navy veteran who spent about fifteen months traveling Southeast Asia, where the language barrier kept deciding who people could get to know. He built Ember himself, end to end: the Android and iOS apps, the backend, identity verification and live translation, while finishing an economics degree at Michigan State.
Ember is free to download, match and chat on Google Play in 177 countries, with the iPhone app coming soon. We're self-funded so far.
Most dating apps profit when you stay single and keep scrolling. Ember wins when you find your match.
