eLutions careers
eLutions is developing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for clinician-mediated applications and point-of-care. It targets the critical care of up to 25% of newborns needing monitoring 24-48 hours after birth.
A laser is used to illuminate skin and backscatter is collected from the dermis layer. Data analytics with Raman spectroscopy allow glucose tracking and quantification. Raman does not require lancing the skin and operates in the near-infrared (NIR) to probe 1mm deep. This obviates issues with skin pigmentation and water absorption to achieve a signal-to-noise that provides clinically-relevant glucose levels.
eLutions has received $1.45M from NSF & NIH. Its patented technology is 6 months from a testable prototype that will be deployed in UCSF's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for continuous remote glucose monitoring. The 1st generation product will be sold into ICU's, before further miniaturization has the ability to impact diabetics -- a worldwide market of $50B+.
