There is a disconnect between Chinese consumer demand and supply of fashion resale. The Chinese domestic resale market is limited by product selection as well as concerns on product quality and authenticity. Chinese consumers need to look abroad – in Japan, Europe and the US – to find the most trusted and mature resale platforms. But these international platforms are not easy to find, and struggle to engage with Chinese consumers. They lack the tools and market knowledge to meet their shopping habits. Meanwhile primary brands lack the consumer data to take their first steps into the second-hand market.
