IronMax: The Operating System for the Dirt World

We are CraneMax Hoisting Inc., a profitable, self-funded heavy haul company in Western Canada. We move 100,000-lb machines. We are building a tech spin-off called IronMax Equipment Source. We are fully funded by our own cash flow—no VC timelines, no runways.

What We Are Building
The $50B heavy equipment industry runs on whiteboards. Renting an excavator and booking the truck to move it are disconnected nightmares. IronMax is an asset-light digital marketplace. We digitize third-party equipment, add our markup, and use our CraneMax fleet to handle the logistics. One customer click generates two revenue streams: the rental fee and the trucking fee.

The Hard Problems You Will Solve
As our Founding "0-to-1" Engineer, you won't just center UI buttons; you will translate physical-world chaos into scalable logic:

1. Multi-Variable Quoting Engine: A 13-axle truck isn't a Honda Civic. You’ll build a mapping API rules-engine accounting for weight classes, pilot car triggers, permit jurisdictions, and load times to generate instant heavy haul quotes.
2. Offline-First Architecture: Mine sites lack 5G. You’ll build offline-capable logic (PWAs, local caching) so drivers can complete digital drop-off tickets and sync state changes when they return to cell service.
3. Complex Escrow (Stripe Connect): Dynamic billing for the real world. You will architect split payouts (routing the supplier their wholesale cut vs. our retail margin) and variable final billing (fuel surcharges, damage deposits).
4. Job-to-Job Chaining: Intelligent scheduling to eliminate empty "deadhead" trucking, requiring a state-machine that accounts for maintenance lockouts and human unpredictability.
