That’s where Boardera comes in. We want to provide the easiest, fastest, and most accurate way of taking your awesome PCB design and turning it into an awesome product. Why do we think we can address the many challenges associated with ordering custom electronics? Because we understand them really well - our founders have been PCB designers, PCB assembly manufacturers, and enterprise web software professionals. We know how challenging it can be for PCB designers to get new prototypes built as intended (and working the first time). For startups/hobbyists, finding the right manufacturer and meeting their requirements - like those that result from Design For Manufacturing (DFM) tests - can be a large challenge on its own! But let’s not blame it all on the manufacturers – we know from experience, it’s garbage in/garbage out. The lack of well-adopted standards for electronics design files means manufacturers receive a dizzying variety of packages of varying quality/completeness. Many are missing the rudimentary details required to get the design built, which frequently results in a multi-day (multi-email) progressive disclosure of critical information with the designer before manufacturing can even begin. We also have years of experience building web platforms.
