Senior Lead Engineer

At Riley, we are shaping the future of sales and lead qualification across industries. As a Senior Lead Engineer on our team, you’ll shape our tech stack in the frameworks, languages, and tools we use.

Over the last year, we’ve identified hundreds of thousands of opportunities for real estate agents who use Riley to find their most promising leads. Every month, 100k conversations with home buyers/sellers (and growing!) flow through our system. We provide the framework for concierges to vet and qualify prospective buyers/sellers.

Our real estate agents are located in the U.S. and Canada, while our concierges can be anywhere in the world.

Riley is looking for someone to join us in our San Francisco office to work closely with our CTO (Helson) and Director of Data (Josh). You’ll hit the ground running very soon and work closely with the entire team. We’re also a YC backed startup with access to many resources. Generally, our tech challenges include:

Creating a distributed concierge system (think Uber’s driver marketplace)
Infrastructure reliability and failsafes
Using natural language processing to automate conversations
Analyzing data to find insights into what makes consumers respond to text messages

We don’t believe in siloing engineers to one specific type of project, so let us know if you’re interested in working on any of these areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Write code and deploy often.
Be able to spec a feature/product and work independently to complete tasks.
Work across the full web development stack, touching both the frontend (React) and backend (PHP/Node.js) regularly.
Maintain and develop new features for a platform with hundreds of users.
Be a chill person while working hard.
Automate tasks and build tools that make us more productive and efficient.
Guide products and features through every phase of the development cycle: brainstorming, wireframing, prototyping, development, launch, & iteration.
Directly communicate with customers for support.

Requirements

PHP and Javascript experience.
5+ years of professional experience in web development with modern technology stack.
You are strong in both frontend and backend development.
Experience designing simple and intuitive user experiences.
Experience with web frameworks.
Laravel and Node.js experience preferred.
Experience with CSS/JS frameworks (React, Bootstrap, SASS, etc.).
Experience working with REST APIs.
