About the job

Responsibilities

At Arctic Lake we are entering an exciting new phase of growth. In order to support that growth, we are looking for a rising star developer to join the team reporting directly to the CTO.

We run a highly sophisticated, secure, and complex technology stack with a small team. This means that our technology is extraordinarily robust, and that day to day you will have the opportunity to learn new skills in a wide range of areas and work directly with tier 1 financial institutions. Your work will make an impact in production systems used by major banks and financial institutions. As part of our team, you will get to work with state-of-the-art hardware and infrastructure, building and supporting one of the fastest electronic trading platforms in the industry.

Your responsibilities will include:

- coding, testing and deploying order management features
- developing ultra-low latency exchange protocols
- writing algorithmic and order routing logic
- requirement analysis
- prioritisation of features
- additional duties as requested

You can expect a period of intense mentorship for the first two months to help you ramp up and develop the skills you need to fulfil the duties of your role. By the end of your first 3 months on the job, we expect that you will be making real contributions to the team, though you will still have a lot of guidance and input from your manager and other senior colleagues.

About You

You ideally have a degree in Computer Science or similar. You probably have an excellent grasp of several programming languages, and you definitely have a drive to understand computing from first principles. You are self-motivated and enjoy working with others towards a common objective. When you know a better way, you voice your opinion. Building software is the means to an end—you want to change the way an entire industry operates. You are eager to learn.

You enjoy understanding customer business needs and translating them into specifications or code. You care deeply about best practices for code quality, automation, and testing. You value accountability, along with open and respectful communication.

We are looking for someone who will thrive in a fast paced startup environment, and who is excited by the opportunity to think outside the box and to make a real impact.

Conditions

Salary £40 - 60k + Equity

Perks include:

A flexible working environment, with the option to work from home one or two days per week after an initial ramp up period
Flexible hours (your day can start any time before 10am)
A team that is receptive to new ideas, and an opportunity to impact the future of electronic trading
28 days holiday including bank holidays
Collaborative and inclusive company culture
A modern approach to development (CI / CD, dev ops, containerised, software defined networks)
