Solution Architect- AWS

Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Staff AWS Solution Architect with 15+ years of experience to lead architecture for a large-scale enterprise data platform supporting approximately 90 groups, more than 100 use cases, and about 500 data pipelines. The role requires deep AWS data and infrastructure expertise, strong platform-engineering judgment, and proven ownership of resilient systems operating under stringent recovery time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud-Native & Distributed Systems Architecture (Core Engineering Alignment): Architect high-throughput, resilient microservices and event-driven systems using AWS services including EKS/ECS, Event Bridge, MSK, Lambda, Aurora, and DynamoDB. Partner with application developers to standardize API design, data-access patterns, local development workflows, and resilient coding practices such as circuit breakers, retries, and dead-letter queues.
• Developer Platform & GitOps Automation (Platform Engineering Alignment): Design self-service internal platform components and reusable golden paths using AWS CDK, Terraform, and GitOps pipelines with Argo CD or Flux. Enable safe deployment, consistent platform standards, efficient Kubernetes orchestration with Karpenter, and frictionless zero-trust IAM controls.
• Enterprise Observability & SRE Partnership: Co-design end-to-end telemetry and distributed-tracing standards using OpenTelemetry, AWS X-Ray, and CloudWatch. Establish actionable SLIs and SLOs, multi-region disaster-recovery models with low RPO/RTO, automated failover, and production-readiness practices for mission-critical services.
• Executive Business Cases & FinOps Strategy: Translate technical architecture into clear business cases for CTO, CIO, and CFO stakeholders. Quantify ROI and total cost of ownership, and lead FinOps decisions across reserved capacity, Savings Plans, workload rightsizing, and automated resource optimization.
• Architectural Governance & Strategy Realization: Establish technical roadmaps, Architecture Decision Records, and cross-functional Architecture Review Boards. Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and align platform strategy with growth objectives, multi-year migration roadmaps, and relevant compliance obligations including SOC 2, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of overall technology experience, including substantial hands-on leadership in enterprise solution architecture, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and large-scale data platforms.
• Deep production architecture experience on AWS across compute, containers, integration, data, storage, networking, security, identity, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code services.
• Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale platforms comparable in complexity to environments supporting hundreds of data pipelines, multiple consumer groups, and strict availability and recovery objectives.
• Strong hands-on credibility with EKS/ECS, Kubernetes, Karpenter, Lambda, EventBridge, MSK/Kafka, Aurora, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, AWS CDK, Terraform, CI/CD, and GitOps.
• Demonstrated expertise in high availability, multi-region disaster recovery, RTO/RPO design, SRE practices, observability, performance engineering, security-by-design, and operational resilience.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or an equivalent advanced AWS certification.
• Experience with regulated enterprise environments and architecture controls aligned to SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, or comparable standards.
• Experience developing FinOps business cases, TCO/ROI models, migration roadmaps, and executive-level architecture recommendations.
• Excellent consulting and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to mentor senior engineers and communicate effectively with technology and business executives.
