About Ota Life

Ota Life is an all-in-one platform for anime fans in India and Japan. Fans can watch short reels, play anime quiz battles, join fan communities, vote on creator ideas, collect points and badges, and buy merchandise and event tickets.

We’re a small, fast-moving team building a product for a passionate community. We work on real features, real users, and real product challenges, and we’re looking for people who enjoy building things and taking ownership of their work.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer Intern with proven hands-on experience building web applications and APIs.

This is not a full-time employee position. It is an internship for someone who has already worked with our core tech stack and can demonstrate practical development experience through projects.

You’ll work on real product features across the frontend and backend, contribute to API development, work with databases, fix bugs, and help improve the overall product experience.

What You'll Do

• Frontend: Build and improve web interfaces using React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
• Backend: Develop and maintain REST APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
• Databases: Work with PostgreSQL or MySQL and use Prisma for database operations.
• API Integration: Connect frontend applications with backend services and third-party APIs.
• Debugging: Identify, investigate, and resolve bugs across the application.
• Development: Take ownership of assigned features, from implementation to testing.
• Version Control: Use Git and GitHub for collaboration, code reviews, and managing changes.
• Deployment: Assist with deploying and maintaining applications in a cloud environment.
• Product Improvements: Collaborate with the team to improve existing features and build new ones.

Required Skills

• Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience building applications using React.js.
• Practical experience with Node.js and Express.js.
• Understanding of REST APIs and frontend-backend integration.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience with an ORM such as Prisma.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, branches, commits, and pull requests.
• Ability to debug issues and solve problems independently.
• At least one or two projects that demonstrate your practical development skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with React Native and Expo.
• Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or NativeWind.
• Experience with WebSockets or Socket.IO.
• Exposure to Google Cloud, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and GitHub Actions.
• Experience integrating payment gateways, webhooks, or third-party APIs.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code while understanding and reviewing the generated code.
