Clerk is looking for a Staff Product Designer to define and lead the experience strategy across our financial product ecosystem, including spot trading, margin, prediction markets, liquidity management, and the workflows connecting users to modern financial services.

This role requires strong product judgment, exceptional design craft, design leadership, and a deep understanding of financial markets and emerging technologies. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams from strategy through launch, help scale design practices, and remain hands-on in shaping critical product experiences.

The ideal candidate knows how to simplify complex financial systems without sacrificing the information users need to make informed decisions. You should be comfortable designing for both retail and professional users, navigating technical and regulatory constraints, and leveraging research and product data to improve adoption, execution quality, retention, and trust.

What You Will Do

• Define the product design vision, principles, and strategic priorities in collaboration with product, engineering, and business leadership.
• Own the end-to-end user experience across trading, margin, prediction markets, liquidity management, and related financial applications.
• Lead the design of critical user journeys, including onboarding, funding, market discovery, order entry, transaction review, portfolio and position management, collateral, liquidation risk, settlement, and error recovery.
• Design experiences for diverse audiences, including retail traders, professional investors, market makers, liquidity providers, institutions, and developers, while maintaining a cohesive product ecosystem.
• Remain hands-on in high-impact initiatives by framing problems, developing concepts, creating prototypes, conducting usability testing, and ensuring implementation quality.
• Build and evolve a scalable design system with consistent interaction patterns for financial data, charts, tables, order entry, account states, notifications, and risk communication.
• Establish practical research processes that combine user interviews, usability studies, product analytics, customer feedback, and competitive analysis.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand system architecture, transaction states, latency, data dependencies, security requirements, and technical constraints.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, security, marketing, and business development teams to launch products responsibly and communicate financial concepts accurately.
• Define measurable design and product success metrics, connecting design initiatives to activation, conversion, trading performance, retention, customer satisfaction, and user trust.
• Mentor designers, establish design standards, and foster a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Have

• 5+ years of product design experience, including demonstrated leadership in mentoring, hiring, and developing designers within fast-paced product organizations.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual and interaction design craft, strategic thinking, and measurable business impact across complex, data-intensive products.
• Experience designing trading, investing, fintech, payments, cryptocurrency, marketplaces, or other high-stakes products where users make consequential financial decisions.
• Deep understanding of financial markets, trading workflows, and financial technologies, including order books, liquidity, slippage, collateral, leverage, liquidation, settlement, and transaction execution.
• Strong product judgment with a proven ability to influence product strategy, prioritization, and key decisions alongside product and engineering leadership.
• Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, visual design, prototyping, user research, and systems thinking.
• Experience creating and scaling design systems, processes, and operational practices that improve consistency and efficiency across multiple products.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into intuitive, accessible, and polished user experiences.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions, present strategic recommendations, and align cross-functional stakeholders.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity, rapidly changing requirements, and evolving technical, business, and regulatory environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience leading design for trading platforms, exchanges, derivatives or margin products, prediction markets, digital wallets, or institutional financial applications.
• Experience designing for both retail and professional traders, including advanced charting, market data visualization, portfolio analytics, and execution workflows.
• Familiarity with decentralized finance, blockchain technologies, smart contracts, digital assets, and emerging financial infrastructure.
• Experience designing products operating within complex legal, compliance, or regulatory environments.
• Experience integrating artificial intelligence and automation into financial products, analytics, or decision-support workflows.
• Prior experience as a founder, design executive, principal designer, active trader, or financial technology entrepreneur.
• Strong proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools, along with familiarity with AI-assisted design and development workflows.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $200,000–$350,000 USD annually

Compensation within this range will depend on experience, qualifications, location, and the scope of the role. Additional compensation and benefits may be offered based on the position and employment agreement.
