Founding Engineer

The problem
Every business is using AI, and they need help keeping their data secure and staying compliant. For millions of small and mid-sized businesses, from law firms to non-profits, that help comes from their outsourced IT firm (MSP). We give IT firms what they need to bring AI to every client and keep it under control. Together, we’re redefining how small businesses work in the age of AI.

• IT firms are the trusted advisor: Small businesses already rely on their IT firm for security and compliance. Now they’re asking for help with AI.
• Legacy vendors weren’t built for AI: Their tools are clunky and built for large enterprises. AI is everywhere now. We’re reimagining what access controls, data loss protection, and IT services look like for the businesses that need them most.
• AI is expanding rapidly into SMBs: IT firms need to monitor AI usage and set the rules. This is where they deliver value: visible security, ongoing policy, and risk management. We’re solving a real and urgent problem for our customers.

The role
We’re hiring a founding engineer to help us build and scale. We have a solid foundation, fast growth, and a long list of customer demands. You’ll work directly with the founders and own full-stack problems from day one.

• Real scale: Deployments are doubling every month. You’ll build systems that grow to millions of endpoints.
• Expert generalist: Our policies are enforced on every device, so the product lives everywhere. You’ll work across our full-stack app, backend, browser extension, and Rust desktop agent.
• Good intuition and taste: Clean, extensible code lets us keep saying yes to big customer problems.
• Ship constantly: Extreme focus on shipping user-facing products and features.
• Tech stack: Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres, ClickHouse, Rust (Windows and macOS agent), browser extension (TypeScript).

What we are looking for

• 3+ years of software engineering experience
• Independent, ship quickly with minimal direction and product guidance
• Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to learn quickly. Rust and Windows experience not required.
• Obsession with security and reliability. Longwave is SOC 2 compliant, and “just works.” We have a high quality bar, take pride in our work, and never ship AI slop.
• Customer-focus: Our customers are IT professionals who expect production-grade software from day one. You’ll meet them regularly to ensure we’re building what they need.
• US work authorization required

About Longwave
Longwave is on a mission to transform MSPs (i.e., outsourced IT firms) into AI solutions providers. Our unique insight is that MSPs will be the final mile of distribution to introduce AI products to small- and medium-sized businesses in every industry across the globe.
We raised our pre-seed round from three VC firms earlier this year (Comma Capital, Dria Ventures, and Top Down Ventures) and have several years of runway. Our co-founders (CEO, CTO) bring big-tech experience and hypergrowth mentality to the world of MSPs.
