About the job
About ownpath
ownpath develops people and platforms, to drive thoughtful design and create meaningful impact.
We have three aspects to the business:
Studios works with enterprises like Hero MotoCorp, PhonePe, and Philips on complex design and technology problems.
Labs builds our own products, tools, and experiments.
Academy helps people become better designers, builders, and leaders.
We're looking for a Social Media Manager for both client and internal projects.
The Role
Most companies have interesting things happening inside them. Very few know how to turn those things into a compelling presence online.
Your job is to find the stories worth telling, figure out how they should be told, and make sure they reach the right people.
You'll work with founders, marketing teams, designers, engineers, and subject-matter experts to understand what's happening inside a business and turn it into ideas, posts, campaigns, conversations, and formats that work on social.
Some days you'll be planning a launch. Others you'll be interviewing a founder or a senior operator, turning a product insight into a series, reacting to something happening in culture, or figuring out why something isn't working.
You'll own the process from strategy and calendars to publishing, experimentation, and learning from what happens next.
This isn't a role for someone who just wants to schedule posts against a content calendar. We're looking for someone who knows how to tell great stories.
What You'll Do
- Lead social media strategy and execution for ownpath's client engagements.
- Understand the client's business, audience, brand, and what they're trying to achieve.
- Find stories, ideas, opinions, people, and moments worth turning into content.
- Build content strategies, recurring formats, campaigns, and editorial calendars.
- Write and edit social copy across platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
- Work closely with designers, writers, motion designers, and filmmakers to create great work.
- Plan and execute product launches, campaigns, announcements, and cultural moments.
- Manage publishing and maintain a consistently high bar across channels.
- Track what works, understand why, and continuously improve the strategy.
- Pay attention to conversations, trends, formats, and emerging platforms without blindly chasing them.
- Present ideas and recommendations to clients and explain the thinking behind them.
- Build AI-assisted workflows that help us research, create, repurpose, and experiment faster.
- Occasionally turn the lens inward and help build ownpath's own social presence.
This is for you if
- You're chronically online, but in a useful way.
- You notice interesting things before someone turns them into a trend report.
- You understand why people share things.
- You can tell the difference between a brand participating in culture and desperately trying to.
- You're a strong writer and an even better editor.
- You know that the same idea shouldn't simply be resized and posted everywhere.
- You have strong taste in design, writing, photography, film, and internet culture.
- You can make complicated subjects accessible without flattening them.
- You're curious about business, technology, design, science, culture, and people.
- You can enter a subject you know nothing about and become dangerously knowledgeable fairly quickly.
- You're comfortable looking at performance data without letting the algorithm dictate every creative decision.
- You care about the details, but know when to ship.
You probably have 2+ years of experience in social media, content, editorial, advertising, brand, communications, or another corner of the creative world.
You might have worked at an agency, built a brand's social presence, grown your own audience, or simply made excellent things on the internet.
We care considerably more about your judgement, thinking, and work than your job titles.
What good looks like
The work shouldn't feel like a brand filling its content calendar.
People should stop scrolling.
They should learn something, feel something, laugh, disagree, send it to someone, remember the company, or become curious enough to find out more.
For clients, that might mean a stronger point of view, a successful launch, a growing audience, better conversations, or becoming genuinely relevant within their category.
For ownpath, it means clients trust us not just to make things look good, but to help them earn attention.
We don't want to make more posts. We want to make things worth following.
Why ownpath
- You'll work on interesting briefs and sometimes even define them.
- You'll work alongside designers, writers, engineers, strategists, and builders who care about their craft.
- You'll have considerable creative freedom and responsibility.
- You'll have room to experiment with AI, new formats, new platforms, and new ways of working.
- You'll get to build social practices and systems rather than inherit a playbook designed by committee.
- And you'll work somewhere that believes good social media is creative work, not an administrative function.
How to Apply
Send us:
- Work you're proud of.
- Social accounts, campaigns, posts, or projects you've worked on.
- A short note telling us why this sounds interesting.
Brand accounts, personal accounts, weird internet projects, memes, launch campaigns, videos, threads, newsletters, communities. We're not too precious about the format.
Show us what you've made, what you pay attention to, and how you think. That's the part we're interested in.
