About the job
The Role
We're looking for a Product Engineer who wants to do more than just work through engineering tickets.
Most of your day-to-day work will be building and improving the product alongside the rest of our engineering team. But because we're a small company, we want our engineers to be close to the people actually using what we build.
You'll occasionally join customer calls, respond to technical questions, investigate issues customers report, and visit customers in person to understand how they're using the product and where they're getting stuck. When something goes wrong, you'll be able to dig through the codebase, logs, configuration, and data to figure out what's happening and fix it when appropriate.
We're looking for someone who enjoys building software but is also comfortable talking to customers, asking good questions, and taking ownership of problems from the first customer conversation through the eventual fix.
You’ll do well here if you enjoy understanding messy operational problems and turning them into simple, intuitive workflows. We value engineers who are detail-oriented, strong communicators, and willing to take responsibility for the quality of what they ship.
You’ll work with:
Frontend: ReactJS, TypeScript
Backend: Python, Django, PostgreSQL
Nice to have: Cloud (e.g. AWS), AI APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, etc)
The Company
Stock68 is building Toast for the $1.3T food distribution industry.
Food distribution is one of the largest and oldest supply chains in the world, but much of the industry still runs on legacy software, spreadsheets, emails, phone calls, and manual workflows. We’re changing that by building an AI-native operating platform that gives distributors one modern system to run their business.
Our platform covers everything from order entry and inventory management to downstream workflows like collecting receivables and paying vendors. We map complex physical operations into simple, intuitive software, helping distributors move faster, reduce errors, and make better decisions.
We’re especially excited about using good UI/UX design, data, machine learning, and AI to streamline repetitive work and reduce operational complexity.
