Forward Deployed Engineer (Elixir)

About the role

MarkAI is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work on-site with one of our flagship clients: a high-growth fintech that has raised $50M+ and runs mission-critical systems on Elixir. You'll be a MarkAI engineer embedded in the client's team. You'll own real production work end to end, from understanding the business problem to shipping, monitoring and iterating.

This role suits a strong Elixir engineer who likes being close to users and business stakeholders, moves fast, and wants to see their code handle real money at real scale.

What you'll do

• Design, build and ship production features in Elixir for a fintech platform handling real financial transactions
• Build real-time, local-first sync features with ElectricSQL on top of PostgreSQL
• Work directly with the client's engineering, product and business teams to turn requirements into working software, fast
• Own the reliability, performance and observability of the services you build
• Debug hard production issues across the stack: concurrency, distributed state, database performance
• Act as MarkAI's technical voice on-site: scope work, flag risks early and raise the engineering bar
• Feed field learnings back to the MarkAI team to improve our tools and delivery playbooks

Must have

• Strong hands-on production experience with Elixir
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL/ElectricSQL and real-time sync patterns
• Comfortable owning features end to end in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment
• Clear communicator who can work directly with non-engineering stakeholders
• Willing to work full-time from the client's office

Nice to have

• Previous experience in fintech, payments, lending or banking systems
• Experience with distributed Systems
• Background in forward-deployed or client-facing engineering roles
• Contributions to Elixir open-source projects
