About the Role

We are looking for Premium Streaming Apps Integration Engineer who is responsible for integrating premium streaming application SDKs such as Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video into the RDK-V/E software stack. The role focuses on enabling and validating end-to-end application functionality by implementing required platform integrations, resolving certification and pre-certification issues, and ensuring compliance with application partner requirements. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional working groups to understand application integration, media, security, and platform requirements. The role also requires evaluating architectural gaps, proposing technical solutions, obtaining architectural reviews, and driving approved solutions to implementation. Success in this role requires strong expertise in embedded Linux platforms, RDK-V/E, media pipelines, and premium OTT application ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Integrate premium streaming application native SDKs (Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, etc.) into the RDK-V/E software stack.
• Develop and implement missing platform components, APIs, services, and integration hooks (media pipeline, DRM, graphics, IPC) required for successful application onboarding.
• Perform application validation, pre-certification testing, and readiness assessments against partner certification requirements (e.g., NTS, Eye Patch, RAE, AVTS, YTS, PAT).
• Analyze, debug, and resolve issues identified during integration, testing, certification, and field deployments, including multi-threading, concurrency, and stability issues.
• Collaborate with application partners, platform teams, architects, and working groups to understand integration, media, and security requirements.
• Evaluate architectural and technical gaps, propose scalable solutions, and drive them through architecture reviews and approvals.
• Work with GStreamer-based media pipelines, DRM/CDM systems, and streaming protocols to ensure robust playback and provisioning/authentication flows.
• Support Yocto/CMake-based build integration, containerized deployments, and application security hardening across the platform.

Required Skills

• Core Platform & Application Integration
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one premium streaming application native SDK (Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, or equivalent).
• Good knowledge of RDK-V/E architecture, components, and application integration frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with premium app pre-certification and certification testing methodologies.
• Good understanding of Set-Top Box (STB), Smart TV, and connected entertainment device ecosystems.

• WPE/WebKit experience (for webapps SME track).

• Programming & Software Design

• Advanced proficiency in C++ development, debugging, and performance optimization.

• Strong OOPS (object-oriented) design understanding.

• Multi-threaded and lockless programming; critical understanding of thread synchronization in multi-threaded modules with hands-on experience in concurrency and system stability.

• IPC mechanisms.

• Python for tooling/automation; basic understanding of JavaScript.

• Shell scripting.

• Media, DRM & Security

• GStreamer and media pipeline development.

• Streaming protocols and in-depth understanding of video/audio buffer handling.

• DRM systems, including in-depth understanding of CBCS and CTR encryption/decryption schemes.

• Experience with EME/MSE-based players.

• Application security and cryptography tools (for app provisioning/authentication).

• Graphics rendering.

• DIAL and DAB protocol understanding.

• Platform, Build & Tools

• Linux (embedded) platform expertise.

• Yocto and CMake build systems.

• Containerization technologies.

• Git/Gerrit version control.

• Debugging tools: Valgrind, GDB, coredump/minidump analysis.

• Certification Test Suites

• Netflix: NTS, Eye Patch, RAE.

• Amazon: AVTS.

• YouTube: YTS, PAT.

• Analytical & Collaboration Skills

• Ability to analyze integration ambiguities, design architectural solutions, and collaborate effectively with architects and cross-functional teams.
