Lead Mobile Engineer (Android / Flutter)

About the Role:
We are looking for a Lead Android Engineer and our stack spans native Android and Flutter, so you'll be hands-on with both. If you enjoy solving complex problems, building well-architected apps, and helping other engineers do their best work, this role is for you.

It's a hands-on role — with room to guide architecture, technical decisions, and how the team works. You'll work with a collaborative team of engineers, designers, and product managers on applications used in real-world environments.

Location: Bangalore.
Experience: 7+ Years, with 5+ years focused on Android.

What You'll Do:

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap across our native Android and Flutter codebases, and make the trade-off calls that come with it.
• Lead the design and delivery of complex features end to end, from technical design through production.
• Drive modularization, build performance, and a codebase structure that scales with the team.
• Decide what belongs in Flutter and what belongs in native code, and own the platform channel layer between them.
• Set and hold the bar for performance, memory, stability, and crash-free rate.
• Define the testing strategy — unit, UI, and integration — and make sure it's actually followed.
• Own the release process: versioning, staged rollouts, monitoring, and production support.
• Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback, and grow the team's technical depth.
• Partner with product, design, backend, and QA to shape scope, sequencing, and what's realistic.
• Manage technical debt deliberately — document architecture decisions and revisit them.
• Contribute to hiring: interviewing, calibrating the bar, and onboarding new engineers.

What We're Looking For:

• 7+ years building production mobile applications, with 5+ years focused on Android.
• Deep Kotlin expertise, including a strong command of Coroutines and Flow.
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android components.
• Hands-on Flutter experience in a production app, with a good understanding of Flutter's architecture and state management.
• A track record of owning architecture at scale — MVVM/MVI, Clean Architecture, and modularization of a large codebase.
• Experience profiling and optimizing performance, memory, and app startup using Android Studio Profiler or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, background execution limits, and lifecycle behaviour across OS versions.
• Experience with Gradle build systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with REST APIs, networking, offline data storage, and secure data handling.
• Ownership of Play Store releases end to end — signing, staged rollout, crash monitoring, and production support.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions across a team.
• Strong programming fundamentals, OOPS, data structures, system design, and problem-solving ability.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to regulated environments such as healthcare or medical devices.
• Experience integrating external hardware or peripherals (Bluetooth / USB devices).
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform.
• Experience building desktop applications with Flutter.
• Working knowledge of iOS, or experience owning both platforms.
• Experience building automated release and quality pipelines.
• Open source contributions, technical writing, or conference talks.
