Subject Matter Expert — Peace Circles

We are seeking an experienced and community-centered Peace Circle Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop, facilitate, and strengthen Healing and Peace Circle programming.

The SME will work with youth, young adults, returning citizens, Violence Preventionists, Credible Messengers, mentors, and community partners to create structured spaces for conflict resolution, healing, accountability, relationship-building, and violence prevention.

The ideal candidate combines compassion with structure and can guide difficult conversations while promoting safety, responsibility, communication, and peaceful alternatives to conflict.

Key Responsibilities

Peace Circle Facilitation

• Facilitate Healing and Peace Circles in community-based settings.
• Create safe, structured, respectful, and inclusive environments.
• Establish participation guidelines and manage group dynamics.
• Facilitate discussions involving conflict, violence, trauma, grief, relationships, and accountability.
• Use restorative, transformative, and other appropriate approaches.
• Encourage active listening, reflection, emotional regulation, and problem-solving.
• Help participants identify alternatives to retaliation and violence.
• Provide appropriate referrals and follow-up support.
