Backend Engineer – GCP | Python/Go

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build an automated GCP-based billing pipeline. You’ll help transform a manual, Excel-driven billing process into a scalable, rules-driven and AI-augmented platform integrated with GCP infrastructure and financial billing systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role involving backend architecture, event-driven systems, financial data processing, and cloud-native development.

What You’ll Do

• Build GCP-native rules engines for billing file processing, data classification, PO reconciliation, and charge-code splitting.
• Develop scalable RESTful microservices using Python or Go on Cloud Run.
• Build automated data ingestion pipelines using Cloud Scheduler and Pub/Sub.
• Develop resilient integrations with the Impact billing system and other financial/ERP platforms.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases on Cloud SQL, including schemas, indexing, transactions, audit logs, and data versioning.
• Implement batch rollback and reliable processing workflows for financial data.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, including automated testing and deployment gates.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and security controls using Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Armor.
• Work closely with the Solution Architect/Tech Lead through UAT, production deployment, and go-live.

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Go.

• Advanced PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, indexing, and transaction optimization.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience integrating with ERP or financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or PeopleSoft.
• Experience working with financial data pipelines, including charge reconciliation and accounts payable processes.

Nice to Have
GCP Professional Cloud Developer or Professional Data Engineer certification.
Experience in real estate financial operations.
Exposure to Cloud Workflows or Prefect.
Experience integrating LLM/AI services, particularly Vertex AI SDK, into backend applications.
