Roadway Project Manager

Engineering Design Source, Inc. (EDSI) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Roadway Project Manager to support the planning, analysis, and design of transportation projects. This position will focus primarily on roadway design projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and Local Public Agencies (LPAs).

The successful candidate will have 8-15 years of experience and a strong interest in technically detailed design work. This role requires regular interaction with clients, consultants, contractors, utilities, and public agencies, as well as the ability to resolve design challenges that may involve field investigations. Strong communication and technical writing skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary design team. Tasks include leading individual projects and/or as a project discipline lead on larger projects which will include the management of scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables. Other duties include mentoring younger staff and business development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following transportation planning and design tasks:

•Roadway design and rehabilitation

•ADA‑compliant facility design

•Bicycle and pedestrian trail design

•Traffic signal design

•Geometric layout development

•Drainage and hydraulics design

•Quantity calculations and cost estimating

•Coordination with utilities and public agencies

•Supporting design issue resolution during project development and construction

POSITION DETAILS:

Location: Chicago, IL

Department: Roadway

Schedule: Full-time; hybrid work-from-home schedule (minimum of 3 days in-office)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Licensing:

Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)

Experience:

•Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

•Mid-level – Senior-level candidates with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply

•Experience completing State DOT projects, particularly MoDOT and/or IDOT is preferred

Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited institution (minimum)

Software Proficiency (Minimum):

MicroStation, GeoPAK and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
