About the job
Bulbthings · Fully Remote (EU, UK, or USA) · Full-Time or Contract · €55K–€75K · 0.5–2% Stock Options · 2–5 years experience
We're not a garage-stage startup running on ramen and vibes. We're a live, proven platform already trusted by some seriously big enterprise customers, and we've already got LLMs wired into the guts of it. Now we want to push further: extend what they can actually do and use that to genuinely wow our customers, not just tick an "AI-powered" box on a slide.
We're looking for the kind of engineer who reads "enterprise software" and gets excited instead of bored. Someone rigorous enough to be trusted with a platform real companies run on, but still hungry enough to want a real stake in where this goes next.
If that's you: we should talk. If it's not, no hard feelings, there's a fine cushy job out there for you, just not here.
MUST HAVES
Your background:
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or something close enough
- 2–5 years of real, provable experience shipping production code for enterprise software/platforms. We're talking actual customers, actual uptime, actual "oh no it's 2am and something's on fire" experience, not just a slick MVP that never had to survive contact with a real customer
- Experience working on enterprise systems of record, think CRM, ERP, HR, Inventory Management, accounting platforms, or similar. You know what it means to build software that businesses trust with their core operational data, not just a nice-to-have tool on the side
- Some hands-on experience putting LLMs to work on real problems
Your skills and experience:
- Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of actually shipping on a live, revenue-generating platform that large, demanding customers depend on
- Comfortable in (or able to quickly pick up) our stack: Angular, React Native, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, REST APIs
- You're UI/UX-minded first and foremost: you care as much about how a feature feels to use as how it's architected underneath. We need someone who thinks about the customer experience, not someone who'd rather be three layers deep in backend or devops
- Some practical experience with LLMs in a real product context: RAG, agents, evals, prompt/context engineering, fine-tuning, or whatever the acronym of the month is. You don't need to be a research scientist, but you should have actually built something with this, not just read about it
- Rigorous and detail-oriented: you can own a feature end-to-end and ship clean, maintainable code at a good pace
Personality traits we'll be looking for:
- Ambitious and hungry: you want a real stake in a growing company, not just a job title and a badge
- Strong work ethic, responsible, and genuinely autonomous: we're fully remote and we're not going to hover over your shoulder (we don't even have shoulders to hover over, we're a Slack window)
- You thrive in a small team where your work is visible and actually moves the needle, not lost in eleven layers of process
- Rigorous and detail-oriented as a habit, not a performance: the kind of person who double-checks their own work because sloppy isn't in your nature
- High EQ and genuinely excellent communicator: in a small remote team, there's no layer of process to catch what falls through the cracks. You write clearly, you flag blockers before they become fires, and you can explain a technical trade-off to a non-technical teammate without either of you losing the will to live
- You're earlier in your career, so we'll invest real time in you, and we'll expect real engagement in return while you learn the ropes and earn the team's trust.
- Room to grow: This role can evolve into a Lead position fast for the right person. We're a small team, so there's no ladder of middle management standing between you and more responsibility. If you're good and you want it, you'll get it quickly.
NICE TO HAVES
- Some DevOps experience (CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, monitoring) or a knack for database query optimization, useful to have, not the core of the role
- You speak another language (French, German, Spanish, Italian; extra credit for anything that makes our customer calls smoother)
✋ HOW TO APPLY
Please include a short, genuine message telling us who you are and why this role and venture actually interests you. Not a copy-pasted cover letter, not three lines of "I am a passionate developer with X years of experience." We read every single one, and it's usually obvious within a sentence which is which. Tell us something real: why enterprise software, why LLMs, why now, why us. Applications without one won't move forward.
