About the job
*You look at a website and notice the things other people move past.
*
The way a page opens. The rhythm of the scroll. The spacing between sections. The way type behaves on mobile. The difference between motion that adds energy and motion that is there because someone found an effect.
You notice when something feels clumsy, even if it technically works.
We’re looking for a web designer and developer to join Round 3 and help us create better digital work from end to end.
We want someone who is design-forward and interested in the front end, and who has enough experience to build from the ground up. Someone who cares how a site looks, feels, moves and responds, and who also knows how to build the thing properly once the direction is clear.
For more than a decade, we've been a custom WordPress shop. And we're open to different approaches moving forward. Framer, WordPress, SquareSpace, coded, are all options. Let's discuss that, together.
Experience with modern front-end tools and frameworks is useful too, but the bigger thing is judgement. Knowing when Framer is the right answer. Knowing when WordPress is the right answer. Knowing when something needs custom code, and being able to make that call without making the project heavier than it needs to be.
The role is design-forward.
Sometimes you’ll be handed a strong visual direction and asked to carry it through into a polished build. Other times you’ll be working closer to the design itself, shaping layout, interaction, responsive behaviour, hierarchy and flow as the project comes together.
We want someone who can think across the whole experience, and also jump in on projects and leave things better than you found them.
You should understand UX and UI well enough to make good decisions, have a sharp eye for typography and composition, and care about the little things that make a site feel finished: hover states, transitions, spacing, mobile behaviour, animation, pacing and responsiveness.
You should also be comfortable owning the build and knowing how to get to those places.
That means taking a project from design intent through development, testing and launch without the quality getting lost somewhere in between. You need to be confident enough with copywriting to understand when something isn't right and spot errors and mistakes without allowing them to get into the finished product.
We work remotely and in real time. We use Drive as a live tool so work is visible and shared and protected from losses. We use ClickUp to keep flow organised and moving. You’ll be part of a team, and we want someone who is comfortable jumping in, asking smart questions, solving problems and keeping momentum.
The sites you've built matter, a lot. Please send your best ones along, and what makes them great and interesting.
Show us live sites you personally designed, built, or helped shape. Tell us what you were responsible for. Show us where you made the experience better. Show us something with movement, personality, polish and restraint.
We’re especially interested in people who care about the front end as a creative medium, not only as the last step after design is finished.
