Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our U.S. Engineering team in Sunnyvale, California. This is a hands-on Windows kernel-mode driver development role focused on designing, implementing, debugging, and optimizing high-performance drivers for GPU-accelerated NVMe storage products. The ideal candidate brings deep practical experience building production Windows drivers and can own complex features end to end while contributing sound architecture, rigorous debugging, and technical leadership.
MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE Substantial, practical hands-on experience developing and debugging Windows kernel-mode device drivers is required.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain production-quality Windows kernel-mode drivers for SupremeRAID GPU-accelerated NVMe storage products.
- Own major driver features from requirements and architecture through detailed design, implementation, unit testing, integration, release, and post-release support.
- Develop within Windows driver frameworks and storage architectures, including WDM, KMDF, and StorPort, as appropriate to the product design.
- Optimize driver performance, stability, scalability, and feature support in alignment with NVMe specifications and demanding enterprise workloads.
- Debug complex kernel, driver, storage, PCIe, NVMe, GPU, and hardware-interaction issues using WinDbg, crash dumps, tracing, logs, and related diagnostics.
- Diagnose system failures such as bug checks, hangs, data-path errors, race conditions, memory corruption, and performance regressions.
- Implement and validate IOCTL interfaces, pass-through command paths, and other driver-to-user-space control mechanisms.
- Participate in Windows HLK/WHQL testing, driver signing, certification, packaging, and release processes.
- Partner with QA, product management, customer support, and field engineering to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and improve product quality.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting guidance, and mentorship.
- Improve engineering efficiency through automated driver testing, diagnostics, CI/CD integration, and clear technical documentation.
- Participate in customer escalation support when deep driver or system-level root-cause analysis is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of professional Windows device driver development experience, including substantial recent hands-on work in kernel-mode driver implementation and debugging.
- Demonstrated experience delivering and maintaining production Windows drivers. Candidates must be able to discuss specific driver components they personally designed, implemented, debugged, tested, and supported.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ for low-level and kernel-mode development.
- Deep understanding of Windows kernel and driver concepts, including WDM, KMDF, I/O request handling, synchronization, memory management, interrupts, DMA, Plug and Play, and power management.
- Strong debugging skills using WinDbg and related tools such as crash-dump analysis, Driver Verifier, WPP/ETW tracing, TraceView, or equivalent diagnostics.
- Experience with driver signing, installation, packaging, and release processes.
- Familiarity with NVMe protocols, IOCTLs, and pass-through command structures.
- Experience designing and delivering complex driver features with clear design documentation, test plans, and maintainable implementation.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, and make practical architecture decisions under ambiguity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex kernel and driver behavior clearly to engineering, QA, support, product, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing Windows storage, RAID, NVMe, filter, or other performance-critical device drivers.
- Deep knowledge of NVMe, NVMe-oF, RAID, PCIe, DMA, interrupt handling, queueing models, or storage performance analysis.
- Experience with Windows HLK/WHQL certification and troubleshooting certification failures.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated test environments for Windows drivers.
- Knowledge of performance profiling and optimization for storage drivers and high-throughput, low-latency I/O paths.
- Experience with GPU programming or acceleration technologies, especially CUDA.
- Prior experience in enterprise storage, data center infrastructure, AI/HPC infrastructure, or performance-critical systems.

Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. Compensation will be standardized for all hires at the same level and location. The package may include stock options and a performance-based bonus.
- Total Compensation Range: $150,000-$250,000
