Sr Data Engineer

The Sr. Data Engineer is responsible for the design, structure, and maintenance of data, usually organized in a relational database. This person ensures the accuracy and accessibility of data relevant to an organization or a project. The management and organization of data is highly technical and requires advanced skills with computers and proficiency with data-oriented computer languages such as SQL and XML. A successful Sr. Data Engineer must possess the ability to communicate effectively, as this person will be a part of a larger team within an information technology department. Additionally, this person needs to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff. Since development of data models and logical workflows is common, the Sr. Data Engineer must also exhibit advanced visualization skills, as well as creative problem-solving.

Job Duties:
• Drive the design, structure, and maintenance of data all within relational databases.
• Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data within big data and data pipeline environments while managing and organizing data through data-oriented computer languages such as SQL and XML.
• Lead data pipeline execution, testing, cutover, and data modernization solution while identifying opportunities for automating tasks.
• Work with large data sets and deriving insights from data using various BI and data analytics tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within data governance, data quality, security, and risk management practices to design new processes and enhancements with appropriate controls.
• Manage large, complex data sets that meet non-functional and functional business requirements in addition to helping to establish Data Engineering architecture strategy, best practices, and standards for data lake support engineering.
• Assemble and oversee large, complex data sets that meet non-functional and functional business requirements and prepare technical design specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand end user needs to be translated into technical solutions while monitoring scheduled production related tasks.

Education & Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Bilingual in English/Spanish
• 3-5+ years’ experience with data mapping, data modeling, and database design, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Hands-on experience with SQL and relational database technologies, with the ability to analyze and optimize data structures and queries.
• Experience designing and supporting data integration and ETL/ELT solutions across multiple data sources and systems.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms and architectures, preferably AWS, including data storage, processing, and integration services.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, security, and risk management practices, with a focus on designing new processes and enhancements with appropriate controls, traceability, and auditable evidence generation to support compliance and audit requirements

Plus:
• Certifications in AWS are highly desired, such as AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate
