About the job
Here you will architect complex audio-video and broadcast systems for stadiums, arenas, entertainment venues, and large public assembly facilities.
You will make the calls that determine how a venue sounds, how it distributes content, how it produces a show, and how it hands off a clean signal to broadcast. You will develop the design, model it, document it, and carry it into rooms with owners and architects.
This is a strong fit for an engineer who wants genuine ownership, is drawn to problems without an easy answer, and wants to follow a design all the way through to commissioning instead of handing it off at 50%.
What You Will Own
- Design complex audio-video and broadcast systems for large venues, from concept through construction documents.
- Develop system architecture for large format sound reinforcement, distributed audio, DSP, control, IPTV and video distribution, LED displays, video production, intercom, AV networks, and supporting infrastructure.
- Produce your own Revit and AutoCAD documentation: system plans, one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, details, narratives, specifications, equipment lists, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate directly with architects, engineers, IT teams, contractors, manufacturers, and other consultants.
- Present your work in client meetings and technical design workshops.
- Lead portions of projects and direct the work of Design Engineer I staff.
- Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction.
- Perform site observations, system testing, commissioning, and performance verification. You will hear your own designs come up for the first time.
- Research emerging technologies and help integrate them into the firm's design process.
- Mentor early career engineers and contribute to our internal design standards and detail library.
What You Bring
- Five or more years in professional Audio Video consulting, engineering, design, or integration.
- Demonstrated experience designing complex commercial or large venue Audio Video systems.
- Strong grounding in professional audio, video, control, DSP, networking, and infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and construction documentation workflows. Our engineers model and draw their own work.
- The ability to independently produce coordinated, buildable documentation without someone checking every line.
- Clear communication and the willingness to explain a technical position to people who do not share your background.
What Would Set You Apart
- Experience in the design or operation of sports venues, or other facilities of equal complexity. Highly preferred.
- Q SYS, Dante, AES67, SMPTE ST 2110, HDR, IPTV, and IP-based media technologies.
- Acoustic modeling experience in EASE or a comparable platform.
- CTS-D or comparable certifications.
