About the job

About Pattern Pattern is transforming airport ground operations through AI-driven software and robotics. Our mission is to make aviation logistics efficient, predictable, and human-friendly. With tools like Pulse (our data & dispatch platform), Co-pilot (think "Uber for airport equipment dispatch"), and Pathfinder (a flexible robotic conveyor belt) we’re building the ecosystem of tools to drive airport operations. Join our team of 25+ brilliant minds in Boulder, where our culture thrives on: Autonomy | Humility | Customer Obsession | Enthusiasm | Transparency

Your Mission Own the mechanical health of Pattern's Pathfinder robotic fleet at DEN International Airport. You'll be the hands-on expert keeping our vehicles running at peak performance, diagnosing failures, executing repairs, driving preventative maintenance, and feeding hardware insights back to the engineering team. This is a critical role: the work you do directly determines whether our vehicles are operational and our customers succeed. You'll be positioned at DEN with the full support of Pattern's engineering and operations teams behind you.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance & Repair: Execute hands-on mechanical repair, cable work, and component replacement across the Pathfinder fleet. Diagnose issues methodically and resolve them efficiently, applying both technical knowledge and field ingenuity when situations demand creative problem-solving.

Preventative Maintenance: Own and execute a regular PM schedule across the fleet. Anticipate failures before they happen and maintain the operational standards our customers depend on.

Hardware Upgrades & Modifications: Implement mechanical and electrical upgrades as the platform evolves. Fabricate, modify, and adapt components in the field as needed to keep the fleet performing.

Engineering Feedback Loop: Document failure patterns, flag recurring issues, and surface improvement opportunities directly to the engineering team. Your field insights directly shape the future of our hardware.

Independent Execution: You'll manage your own workload at DEN, staying on top of what needs attention, what's coming next, and how to work through competing priorities, without needing someone to hand you a task list each morning.

Who You Are
Hands-On Technician: You have real mechanical experience, whether from automotive, motorcycle, fabrication, robotics, or something similarly hands-on. You know your way around tools, you're comfortable improvising, and you take pride in making things work.

Builder & Tinkerer: The ideal candidate tinkers outside of work, whether that's fabrication, welding, CAD, or taking things apart to understand how they work.

High-Output and Self-Motivated: This role involves demanding, detail-oriented work. You're the type of person who shows up energized, works through a full day of hands-on tasks with focus and care, and finds genuine satisfaction in keeping a complex fleet operational.

Feedback-Oriented: You don't just fix what's in front of you, you think about why it broke, whether it will happen again, and how to make the system better. You communicate those observations clearly to the team.

Multi-Discipline Technician: You're comfortable across the full stack of hands-on technical work. On the mechanical side, you know your way around hand tools, fasteners, and physical assemblies, and you can fabricate or adapt components when off-the-shelf solutions don't fit. On the electrical side, you can read wiring diagrams, run and terminate cables, and work through electromechanical systems methodically.

Physical Requirements
This is a physically active, field-based role in an airport environment. You should be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, and heavier loads with assistance or equipment
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach overhead to access components on and under vehicles
  • Stand and walk for extended periods across a full shift
  • Work in a facility environment with variable temperatures, noise, and moving equipment, including outdoor exposure
  • Use hand and power tools with fine motor control for extended periods
  • Pass DEN badging requirements, including a background check and any applicable airport-specific screening

Why Join Pattern?
Real Impact: The vehicles you maintain move bags across one of the country's busiest airports. When the fleet runs clean, flights run on time and customers win. Your work is visible and consequential.

Ownership & Growth: As Pattern scales, this role scales with it. You'll have real ownership over the fleet's health and a direct line to shaping how our hardware evolves.

Culture of Excellence: Work with top-tier talent who value humility and hustle.

Perks: Unlimited PTO, health benefits, and the adrenaline of 0→1 innovation.
