About GOCAP
GOCAP is building a better kind of lender.
We provide salary-linked personal loans designed around real affordability and repayment sustainability. We are live in market and entering an exciting phase of growth.
Data and technology sit at the heart of how we operate, from processing applications and making credit decisions through to monitoring customer and portfolio performance. As we scale, we are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to help strengthen the infrastructure, data flows and production processes that support the business.
The role
As a Data Engineer at GOCAP, you will take a hands-on role in developing, maintaining and improving the data infrastructure and production workflows that support our lending platform.
You will work across the AWS environment, managing data flows between systems, maintaining and deploying Lambda-based processes, investigating production issues and ensuring changes are properly tested and monitored.
The role sits close to both the data and the business problems we are solving. You will work with loan, credit bureau, open banking and customer performance data, helping ensure it is reliable, accessible and structured appropriately for credit decisioning, analytics and modelling.
We are a small team, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, solving problems independently and understanding how their work affects the wider business.
What you’ll do
• Design, build and maintain reliable data pipelines and workflows supporting the credit lifecycle
• Maintain, develop and deploy AWS Lambda functions used across our production decisioning processes
• Test and validate production changes, including understanding upstream and downstream dependencies
• Work across AWS services including Lambda, EC2, CloudWatch and RDS
• Define and maintain data structures, mappings and transformations across internal and external data sources
• Develop and maintain ETL and ELT processes to support decisioning, analytics and reporting
• Use Python and SQL to analyse data, investigate issues and develop production data processes
• Work with credit bureau, open banking and internal customer data
• Improve monitoring, controls and documentation across data and production workflows
• Work closely with credit, product and engineering to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions
What we’re looking for
• 3+ years of relevant experience in Data Engineering or a closely related technical role
• Strong hands-on experience working within AWS production environments and services such as lambda, EC2, CloudWatch and RDS
• Strong Python and SQL skills applied to data engineering and data analysis
• Experience designing, building and maintaining ETL or ELT pipelines and data integrations across interconnected systems
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate unfamiliar issues independently
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when making changes to live production processes
Particularly valuable
• Experience working within lending, FinTech, banking or financial services
• Experience working with in a lending environment
• Experience using Python for statistical analysis or predictive modelling
• Good Excel skills and the ability to analyse and reconcile data outside of code when appropriate
• Experience supporting machine learning or model deployment workflows
What to expect
This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to the systems and data that power a live lending business.
You will have meaningful ownership of production processes and the opportunity to improve how data moves through the organisation as we scale. You will work closely with credit, product and engineering, with visibility of how your work translates into lending decisions and customer outcomes.
For someone interested in developing broader analytical and credit risk expertise, there will also be opportunities to grow into a data architect.
Apply
Please send your CV and a short note outlining your experience with AWS, Python and production data engineering, together with any experience you have working within lending or financial services.
