Career Opportunity
The Data Engineer will join EdgeCore's Technology Services organization and play a key role in scaling the company's data architecture, automation, and analytics capabilities. This role will help design, build, validate, and maintain reliable Databricks data pipelines and Power BI dashboards that support our core site operations teams, customer reporting, finance transformation, and future AI-enabled decision-making.
This is an opportunity to join EdgeCore in the early stages of its enterprise data insights journey, where the foundation of curated, high-quality data is becoming increasingly important to operational execution, customer delivery, and strategic decision-making. As EdgeCore continues to grow its operational buildings, customer base, and reporting requirements, this role will provide dedicated data engineering capacity needed to reduce manual work, improve reporting accuracy, and support scalable automation across the business.
The Data Engineer will work closely with the Data Architect and business stakeholders to deliver accurate, automated, and maintainable data solutions. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with PySpark, SparkSQL, SQL, Databricks, Azure, and Power BI, with an interest in building production-ready data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support business-critical analytics.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Databricks using PySpark, SparkSQL, and SQL.
- Develop clear, reliable data visualizations and reporting assets in Power BI that help stakeholders understand operational performance, customer reporting, billing, and enterprise analytics.
- Take ownership of the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI semantic models, enabling flexible, governed, and self-service reporting and analytics across EdgeCore.
- Support telemetry onboarding for new sites via Azure EventHub and customers, helping ensure timely, accurate, and reliable data delivery for operational and customer-facing reporting.
- Build and maintain data models and curated datasets that support reporting, dashboards, billing automation, operational metrics, and AI-enabled analytics.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand source system data, reporting needs, data quality requirements, and business logic.
- Work within Azure-based data platform services and cloud data architecture patterns to support ingestion, transformation, storage, orchestration, and reporting use cases.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve existing data pipelines to ensure reliability, accuracy, and maintainability.
- Apply data quality checks, validation routines, documentation, and repeatable development practices to support trusted reporting.
Security is a shared responsibility. All employees are required to comply with company security policies and procedures and to help protect company information, systems, and assets in the course of their daily work.
Your Experience and Qualifications
- Required skillsets: PowerBI, PySpark, SparkSQL, Databricks, SQL.
- Additional preferred skillsets: Cloud Infrastructure, including Azure or AWS, Terraform, Azure EventHub, Azure DevOps, and GIT.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar technical data role.
- 3+ years hands-on experience developing data pipelines using PySpark and SparkSQL in Databricks.
- Strong data visualization skills, preferably in Power BI, with the ability to translate curated datasets into clear, accurate, and business-ready reporting assets.
- Strong SQL skills, including experience writing queries, joining and transforming datasets, building reusable logic, and validating results.
- Ability to troubleshoot data quality issues, reconcile datasets, and clearly document assumptions, logic, and validation steps.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities may shift based on customer, operational, or business needs.
- Experience with Azure data services or cloud data platform concepts is a plus, especially familiarity with modern lakehouse patterns, medallion architecture, Databricks Unity Catalog, or similar approaches.
- DevOps or infrastructure-as-code experience is a plus, especially experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, or cloud deployment practices.
