Senior Software (Agentic Software Experience)

Position Summary
The Senior Software Engineer designs, builds, and ships production software that powers VAULT’ platforms and member-facing operations, with a specific emphasis on agentic AI systems. This engineer brings hands-on experience building LLM-powered workflows, autonomous and semi-autonomous agents, tool/function calling, and retrieval-augmented systems that automate and enhance core business processes.
This role, operating as both a strong individual contributor and a technical lead, partners with product and operations to translate business needs into reliable, scalable, and secure software. The ideal candidate is excited about applying modern AI techniques to real-world healthcare and benefits administration challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Software Design & Development
• Design, build, test, and deploy high-quality, production-grade software across the stack
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and contribute to shared engineering standards
• Build and consume APIs and integrations across internal platforms and third-party systems
Agentic & AI Systems
• Design and implement agentic AI systems, including LLM orchestration, tool/function calling, and multi-agent workflows
• Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, including embeddings, vector stores, and prompt strategies
• Develop guardrails, evaluation, and monitoring for safe, reliable AI-driven automation
• Identify opportunities to apply AI agents to automate operational and member-service workflows
Architecture & Technical Leadership
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making for new and existing services
• Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and knowledge sharing
• Help define engineering best practices, patterns, and standards
Quality, Testing & Reliability
• Build automated tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, security, and reliability
• Participate in incident response and continuous improvement of system stability
Collaboration & Delivery
• Partner with the Product Owner and stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver value iteratively
• Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and estimation
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Experience & Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems
• Proficiency in one or more modern languages such as Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar
• Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems — LLM orchestration, function/tool calling, multi-agent or autonomous workflows, RAG, prompt engineering, and vector databases
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of software architecture, data modeling, and secure coding practices
• Experience with EOS® (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or a similar operational framework is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in healthcare, insurance, benefits, or another regulated/data-sensitive industry
• Familiarity with major LLM provider APIs and agent frameworks/orchestration tooling
• Experience with data privacy and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA)
• Experience integrating with CRM or member-management platforms such as Zoho
