Position Summary

The Principal Forward Deployed Engineer provides enterprise technical leadership for Adeia’s AI and automation platform, setting its long-term direction while owning the architecture, multi-year roadmap, and standards for how the company builds, deploys, and governs AI agents. Partnering with the Director of Business Technologies, this role translates executive priorities into scalable AI solutions that enable business transformation across the organization. As Adeia’s technical authority for AI engineering, the role shapes technology investments, establishes enterprise standards, mentors technical talent, and enables business units to successfully build with AI.

Key Responsibilities

Set the direction for delivering AI Agents at Adeia. Own the architecture and multi-year roadmap for how the company builds, deploys, and governs AI agents, partnering with the Director of Business Technologies to translate executive priorities into technical strategy.

Own the AI agent platform end to end. Lead architecture, environment management, deployment and release practices, cost and consumption awareness, and vendor relationships across LangChain, Workato One, and Google Cloud Platform.

Build and ship AI agents. Deliver AI agents and automations across the company from the scoped use-case pipeline through to production, with fully unattended operation as the goal.

Build alongside business units. Support and coach teams developing their own AI agents, establish reusable patterns and guardrails, and grow the enablement library while mentoring IT engineers and business technologists building with AI.

Own agent quality in production. Lead evaluations, monitoring, tracing, regression testing, and incident response to ensure reliable and scalable AI solutions.

Build agent-serving integrations. Develop the APIs, connectors, and middleware required for AI agents to integrate with ERP and business systems, including NetSuite and Salesforce.

Shape where Adeia invests in AI and Automation. Evaluate emerging AI technologies and platforms, manage the investment strategy for the AI stack, and provide evidence-based recommendations to the Director of Business Technologies.

Operate within Adeia’s AI governance framework. Ensure AI solutions align with approved tools, approved data, governance standards, and appropriate oversight.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Extensive experience building and deploying AI agents and middleware automations in production environments.
  • Strong background in DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and production operations.
  • Experience integrating enterprise business systems such as NetSuite and Salesforce.
  • Experience partnering directly with business stakeholders to design and deliver AI and automation solutions.
  • Experience setting technical direction, evaluating emerging technologies, and mentoring engineers or technical contributors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related discipline.
  • Cloud platform or AI-related certifications.
  • Experience with Workato or similar integration platforms.
  • Experience with AI observability and evaluation tooling.
  • Experience with identity management and AI governance.
  • Experience working in a SOX-regulated or public company environment.

Location: US Remote

National Range: $184,000 - $200,000

Bonus Target: 15% of annualized base pay

Restricted Stock Units Target (as a % of annualized base pay): 60%

The base compensation is based on the primary work location, as ranges are location-specific. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
