Forward Deployed Engineer - L1

We are looking for Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to join our Product Engineering team. As an FDE, you will work at the intersection of engineering, product, AI/ML, and customers, turning real-world problems into robust, scalable solutions.

You will be responsible for understanding customer needs, rapidly prototyping and deploying solutions, integrating them with our core platform, and working closely with our engineering and research teams to take successful ideas from prototype to production.

Our vision is to democratise AI by leveraging our expertise in research, software development, and product engineering to build a platform that makes otherwise inaccessible deep tech easy for everyone to use.

A typical day at Xane AI would involve -

• Working closely with customers to understand their workflows, pain points, and technical requirements.
• Rapidly prototyping and iterating on AI-powered solutions and product features.
• Building integrations between customer-facing applications and our core APIs and services.
• Designing and developing production-ready backend services and tooling.
• Working with our ML/AI models to integrate research into practical, customer-facing applications.
• Debugging, deploying, and monitoring solutions in real-world environments.
• Collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Research teams to turn customer feedback into product improvements.
• Brainstorming new use cases and exploring emerging technologies in AI and data science.
• Balancing speed of execution with scalability, reliability, and strong engineering practices.

We would love for you to

• Work fast, ideate, and iterate. You should be comfortable moving from an ambiguous problem to a working solution quickly.
• Be available to work from our Gurugram office on working days.
• Be a JavaScript/TypeScript ninja. Our stack is heavily based on JavaScript/TypeScript, with Node/Bun experience being highly valuable.
• Have strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with an ability to work across the stack when required.
• Have a good understanding of RESTful APIs, integrations, and backend services.
• Understand relational databases and core data modelling concepts.
• Have an understanding of infrastructure, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
• Be familiar with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Understand fundamental system design, scalability, and distributed systems principles.
• Be comfortable working with APIs, third-party services, and rapidly changing technical requirements.
• Have a strong interest in AI/ML and emerging technologies. Prior ML experience is a plus, but curiosity and willingness to learn are essential.
• Be comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Be highly ownership-driven and willing to do whatever it takes to get a solution into the hands of users.
• Thrive in an environment where requirements are evolving and there is no predefined playbook.
