The Art Director partners closely with the Creative Director to lead creative development across multiple brands within the Marc Fisher Footwear portfolio. This role serves as a key creative partner, helping shape seasonal campaign concepts, brand storytelling and visual direction while ensuring those ideas come to life across every customer touchpoint.
The ideal candidate is a highly conceptual Art Director with a passion for building brands through memorable campaigns and compelling visual storytelling. They are equally comfortable developing big ideas, presenting creative concepts and rolling up their sleeves to execute exceptional work across ecommerce, digital marketing, paid social, email, wholesale and retail channels.
This role balances strategic creative leadership with hands-on execution, requiring someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple brands simultaneously. While ecommerce and digital execution remain an important part of the role, the primary focus is developing compelling seasonal campaign concepts and ensuring those ideas come to life consistently across every customer touchpoint.
This is a highly hands-on role. In addition to partnering on creative strategy across multiple brands, the Art Director will independently own the monthly creative execution for one assigned brand, personally concepting, designing and producing ecommerce, email and paid social assets that support key business initiatives and seasonal campaigns.
The Art Director reports to the Creative Director and works cross-functionally with Marketing, Ecommerce, Merchandising and Production teams. This role is based out of our Midtown NYC office on a hybrid basis (3 days in office and 2 days remote per week).
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Creative Director to develop seasonal creative strategies, campaign concepts and visual narratives across multiple brands within the Marc Fisher Footwear portfolio.
- Serve as a trusted creative thought partner, contributing innovative ideas that strengthen each brand's identity and seasonal storytelling.
- Lead creative development from concept through execution, ensuring every campaign is cohesive across all consumer touchpoints.
- Present creative concepts and visual direction to internal stakeholders with confidence and strategic rationale.
- Provide art direction for photo and video shoots, including concept development, pre-production planning, on-set direction and post-production review, including retouching markups.
- Bring seasonal brand campaigns to life across ecommerce, digital marketing, paid social, email, wholesale and retail experiences, ensuring consistency from concept through execution.
- Own the monthly creative production for one assigned brand, personally concepting, designing and delivering ecommerce, email and paid social creative that supports key business initiatives and seasonal campaigns.
- Design and produce a high volume of digital assets, including homepage updates, landing pages, email campaigns, paid social creative, digital banners, motion graphics and video assets, ensuring work is delivered on time while maintaining exceptional creative quality.
- Create and oversee motion assets including video editing, animation and social-first content for channels such as Instagram, TikTok and emerging platforms.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Ecommerce and cross-functional teams to manage multiple concurrent projects and aggressive production timelines.
- Collaborate with photographers, stylists, production partners and external agencies to ensure exceptional creative quality throughout every stage of development.
- Champion creative excellence while balancing brand building, business objectives and production realities.
- Explore and incorporate emerging AI tools and creative technologies into the design process to generate and enhance imagery, video, and other visual content, while improving efficiency and production workflows.
- Bring an established network of trusted creative and production partners, including photographers, videographers, video editors, CGI artists, stylists, and other content creators, to expand and diversify content production.
Qualifications:
- 7–10+ years of experience in Art Direction, Brand Design or Creative Development, preferably within fashion, footwear or lifestyle brands.
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field.
- Exceptional portfolio demonstrating breakthrough campaign concepts, brand storytelling, art direction and digital execution across multiple channels.
- Proven experience developing seasonal campaigns from initial concept through launch.
- Strong understanding of photography, typography, composition and visual storytelling.
- Proven experience art directing photo and video shoots.
- Strong experience designing ecommerce experiences, email marketing and paid social creative in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Strong working knowledge of Figma.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with experience creating and editing motion assets for digital and social channels.
- Strong understanding of how creative translates across ecommerce, paid social, email, digital marketing, wholesale and retail channels.
- Highly organized with exceptional project management skills and the ability to balance multiple brands and competing priorities.
- Comfortable balancing strategic creative development with hands-on execution.
- Excellent presentation, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrates hands-on experience with AI-powered creative tools for generating images and video, enhancing existing content, and streamlining production workflows to improve efficiency and scale content creation while maintaining the highest creative standards.
