Technical Lead Manager

About the Role

Motive is looking for a Technical Lead Manager (TLM) to lead a team of engineers while driving the execution of complex technical initiatives, shaping technical direction, and maintaining a high bar for engineering quality and delivery. In this role, you will report into TLM and combine strong technical judgment with people leadership, helping engineers grow while partnering across the department to deliver outcomes that support broader team and departmental objectives.

The ideal candidate brings a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset, experience leading cross-functional work, and the ability to balance near-term execution with long-term technical thinking.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, including coaching, mentorship, and performance development.
• Plan and execute projects of diverse scope by translating business needs and technical requirements into clear delivery plans.
• Drive technical design discussions and reviews to ensure strong architecture, code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
• Partner with product, engineering, and adjacent stakeholders to align priorities, manage tradeoffs, and deliver meaningful customer outcomes.
• Hire and grow high-performing engineers while fostering a strong, healthy, and productive engineering culture.
• Resolve complex team and delivery issues with rigorous problem-solving, clear communication, and effective collaboration across geographic locations.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years of people management or technical leadership experience.
• Strong technical depth across modern software engineering practices, including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, automated testing, and development workflows.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects from planning through execution with a consistent focus on high-quality delivery.
• Ability to think architecturally, review technical specifications, and guide teams toward sound technical decisions.
• A track record of coaching engineers, supporting career growth, and improving overall team effectiveness.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build consensus across teams.
