Overview
GovStar seeks a Cloud Automation Engineer to implement repeatable, secure provisioning and delivery workflows for AI pilot and production environments. This hands-on role will automate Azure infrastructure, CI/CD, model and application deployment workflows, environment configuration, and operational telemetry while supporting secure government-cloud integration and ATO objectives.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build and maintain automated provisioning for AI, application, data, and supporting cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules and environment configuration patterns for secure Azure deployments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, applications, configuration, and AI/model deployment workflows.
- Automate environment promotion, testing, release, rollback, and configuration-management processes.
- Establish automated operational telemetry, health checks, logging, metrics, alerting, and deployment-status reporting.
- Integrate automation workflows with GitHub Enterprise and approved enterprise development tooling.
- Support containerized deployments and Kubernetes-based delivery where directed by the architecture.
- Implement secrets, identity, access-control, network, and policy automation consistent with security and least-privilege requirements.
- Support migration of current AI tools and services into the centralized Azure platform.
- Partner with security and cloud architecture personnel to produce evidence and automation supporting ATO and continuous compliance activities.
- Troubleshoot provisioning, pipeline, environment, deployment, and cloud-integration failures and drive corrective automation.
Minimum Requirements
- U.S. citizenship.
- Current residence in the United States and residence in either the Eastern or Central Time Zone.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure automation, platform engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure infrastructure and services.
- Strong production experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and modern branch, review, and release practices.
- Experience with Docker and cloud-native deployment automation.
- Strong scripting/programming skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or a similar language.
- Experience implementing logging, monitoring, telemetry, and automated operational checks.
- Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and attention-to-detail skills.

- Experience with GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions.
- Experience automating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Databricks, or other AI platform services.
- Experience with Kubernetes/AKS, Helm, or GitOps.
- Experience with Azure Policy, Key Vault, Entra ID, private endpoints, and security automation.
- Experience supporting ATO, FedRAMP/FISMA-aligned controls, or U.S. federal government systems.
- Experience automating model deployment, MLOps, or LLM application release processes.
