About Barsys
Barsys designs, engineers, and commercializes automated beverage and cocktail-dispensing systems for home and commercial/hospitality use. We sit at the intersection of consumer hardware, embedded software, and the beverage and hospitality industries — a combination that means our commercial strategy, partnerships, and go-to-market decisions move quickly and touch nearly every part of the business at once. As a public, lean, hardware-plus-software company, we operate with the discipline of a larger organization and the speed of a startup. The Chief Business Officer sits at the center of that commercial and financial strategy — partnerships, revenue channels, corporate development — and this role is built to sit right alongside that work.
The Role
We're looking for a Business Operations Associate to sit at the center of the CBO's operating rhythm — running the business cadences, the prep behind them, the action items that come out of them, and the light analysis that connects them to real business outcomes. This is a hands-on operations role, not a traditional administrative or executive-assistant seat: less calendar and inbox management, more ownership over how commercial strategy actually gets executed week to week. You'll have regular exposure to leadership discussions, partnership decisions, and cross-functional strategy — and a direct line of sight into how a growing company runs its business.
What You'll Own
Business Cadences & Operating Rhythm
- Own the recurring business cadences on the CBO's calendar — leadership syncs, pipeline and revenue reviews, partnership check-ins, cross-functional operating meetings: set the rhythm, the agenda structure, and the standing format.
- Keep each cadence sharp: right attendees, clear agenda, starts and ends on time, produces a clear, documented output every time.
Meeting Prep & Notes
- Prepare pre-reads, agendas, and briefing materials ahead of key meetings — including partnership discussions and leadership reviews
- Capture notes during meetings distilled to decisions and next steps, not a verbatim transcript, and route them to the right people immediately after.
Action Item Ownership
- Maintain a single, live action-item tracker spanning every cadence and initiative the CBO is involved in.
- Chase owners proactively, flag slippage early, and escalate stalled items before they become a problem.
- Close the loop — confirm items are actually done, not just marked done.
Cross-Functional Follow-Through
- Coordinate the handful of touchpoints needed to keep cadence-driven initiatives moving across sales, partnerships, product, and operations.
- Loop in the right stakeholders between meetings so commercial work doesn't sit idle waiting for the next cadence.
Business Analysis & Strategic Support
- Pull together lightweight analysis in support of the CBO's priorities — partnership pipeline status, revenue-channel performance, competitive or market context — to inform decisions made in cadence meetings.
- Help prepare materials for board updates and leadership reviews, translating cadence outputs into a clear narrative of business progress.
Reporting & Operations Insights
- Turn cadence outputs into a simple, recurring business update the CBO can share up and out.
- Spot patterns across cadences and initiatives — recurring blockers, slipping owners, process gaps — and flag them before they become bigger problems.
Light Administrative Support (minimal)
- Occasional scheduling support directly tied to the cadences you run — this is intentionally not a calendar- or inbox-management role.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days
- Every cadence the CBO owns has a tight agenda, the right attendees, and a clear, documented output.
- No action item falls through the cracks — each one has an owner, a deadline, and gets closed out.
First Year
- You're a trusted voice in how commercial priorities get sequenced and executed, not just tracked.
- You've taken on a defined area of ownership beyond cadence management — a partnership workstream, a reporting process, a piece of the go-to-market motion.
- Leadership is actively discussing where you grow next.
What We're Looking For
- 2–4 years of experience in business operations, program/project coordination, management consulting, investment banking/finance, or a chief-of-staff-lite role.
- A track record of running meeting cadences and driving action items to closure — not just documenting them.
- Comfort with light business analysis — building a simple tracker, pulling together a status summary, sanity-checking a number before it goes in front of leadership.
- Sharp, concise written communication — you can turn a messy meeting into a clean set of decisions and next steps.
- A bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the New York City area; this is an in-person role.
- Nice to have: startup or scaleup experience, familiarity with hardware/consumer products, or exposure to sales, partnerships, or corporate-development cadences.
Compensation, Benefits & Leadership Growth Path
This role is based in New York, NY and it is intentionally leveled as an associate-level seat — but it is built as an entry point into the business, not a ceiling. You will work in direct, daily proximity to the Chief Business Officer and to the decisions that shape Barsys's commercial strategy. As you demonstrate ownership, judgment, and results, there is a clear and genuine path to expand your scope — toward a senior business operations, chief-of-staff, or people-leadership role within the company. How far and how fast that path moves is a function of performance, not tenure.
