About the job

About Gryd

Gryd's mission is simple: solar and battery systems in every new-build home. Fully funded. No upfront cost to developers or homebuyers. And managed autonomously to deliver lower energy bills from day one.

We're embarking on a new project to build the technology that powers the next chapter — a platform that turns individual home solar-battery systems into a coordinated, intelligent energy network to minimise bills and reduce peak demand at critical grid nodes. It's novel work, it's funded, and it matters.

We're a small, focused team. We move fast, we care deeply about the work, and we're looking for people who bring the same energy.

The role

You'll be the operational backbone of the project — the person who makes sure things actually happen.

Working closely with Gryd's Project Lead and CPO, you'll coordinate across a multidisciplinary technical team, keep the plan live and the risks visible, and own the day-to-day delivery rhythm. You'll also support the Project Lead on Innovate UK reporting, financial tracking, and stage-gate documentation.

This isn't a process-heavy corporate PM role. It's for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, happy to roll up their sleeves, and energised by the reality of building something at an early stage. You'll have a direct line to the founders, plenty of scope to contribute beyond your core remit, and real ownership over how well this project lands.

What you'll be doing

  • Keeping the project plan live — schedules, milestones, and dependencies across the technical team
  • Running the risk and issue register; facilitating regular reviews and escalating where needed
  • Coordinating fortnightly delivery meetings and monthly management reviews with clear action logs
  • Supporting the Project Lead on Innovate UK reporting — progress reports, financial claims, stage-gate docs
  • Tracking expenditure against budget and flagging variances early
  • Coordinating team onboarding and recruitment logistics
  • Maintaining documentation, version control, and governance records
  • Being the connective tissue between technical workstreams and leadership

What we're looking for

You'll need:

  • Proven delivery experience in a technology, research, or engineering environment
  • Strong organisation — able to hold multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping the detail
  • Experience tracking budgets and financial performance
  • Clear, confident written communication — reports, action logs, documentation
  • High comfort with ambiguity and a startup pace

Helpful but not essential:

  • Experience on Innovate UK, UKRI, or other publicly funded R&D grants
  • Familiarity with agile or stage-gated delivery
  • Background in clean energy, built environment, or deep tech
  • A PM qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent) — though we value practical delivery experience over formal certification

What we offer

  • competitive salary
  • 18-month FTC — with genuine potential to go permanent as Gryd scales
  • Hybrid working, London base
  • A pivotal delivery role at the heart of a nationally funded research programme
  • A small team where your work directly enables the project to succeed
  • Direct access to the founders
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Contract details

The contract runs from August/September 2026 to approximately January 2028. We're growing fast and the right person will have a route to a permanent role. 1 month notice period. PAYE terms.

Applicant must be located in the UK

To apply, send your CV and a short cover email — no more than a couple of paragraphs — to [email protected].
