About the role
We're looking for a Content Producer to own the systems and quality bar behind Exponent's video and course content, and to grow that content into a primary engine for reaching and converting our audience. You'll run our production pipelines end to end, from sourcing and prepping hosts to publishing, optimizing, and analyzing what works. You're comfortable operating with a lot of autonomy, making judgment calls, and holding a quality bar.
The heart of this role is leverage, not just output. You'll personally push work across the finish line to start, but your bigger job overtime is to build repeatable process, document institutional knowledge, and enable a distributed set of hosts, editors, and stakeholders to produce consistently without everything routing through you.
We envision this role to grow into Head of Content Production within 6-12 months, and want to hire 1-2 additional people as we grow the team. Overtime, we anticipate roles may become specialized by content type or domain, etc, but for now, the scope of this role covers a wider suite.
Your time will roughly break down as:
- Course production and quality (~50%), primarily written content + mock interviews; this includes ingesting lesson feedback and enforcing our content quality bar
- Mock / video pipeline management (~25%), across our CMS and YouTube
- YouTube channel management (~15%), roughly 80% execution and 20% strategy
- SME pipeline strategy (~10%)
Responsibilities
Written course production and quality (~50% of your time)
This is the core of the role. You'll own the written side of our courses end to end: producing and updating lessons, running the feedback loop, and holding the bar on quality.
- Own written course production and revamps against the curriculum roadmap. A typical project might be fully revamping our MLE course, or standing up the written curriculum for a new role from scratch.
- Own and enforce the content quality bar. With AI integrated into content workflows, you are the written quality owner: no lesson is "done" until it meets the bar, and your sign-off is the ‘final’ review should pass all checks, including voice and tone.
- Collaborate directly with SMEs to shape lesson content: extract practical insights, verify them against SME research and best practices, and evaluate the credibility of the SME's expertise and written contributions as you work together.
- Oversee illustrations, technical diagrams, and static visual assets used in written lessons, making sure they're accurate and meet the quality bar.
- Conduct UX interviews with users to get feedback on the course, learn more about what users want, etc
- Partner with marketing (Nick) to turn new and revamped courses into launch content, supporting soft and official course launches.
Note: we’ve been experimenting working with a contract creative producer for live shoots (script review, footage assembly, etc), and that’s been working well for our team. Ideally, the creative producer would report to you / support your workstream.
Mock / video pipeline management (~25% of your time)
- Own and maintain the Video Engine board (our production tracker), so that it’s accurate at the end of each week, reflecting the status of every video so anyone on the team can check it and know exactly what's happening and what's coming next.
- Run the mock interview pipeline end to end across our CMS and YouTube, from scheduling and hosting through publishing.
- Own the quality bar for filmed mocks, including the call on whether a session gets published, re-filmed, or shelved.
- Handle sensitive talent conversations with tact, including declining to publish, setting boundaries on editorial involvement, and delivering feedback, and make prorating and compensation judgment calls that balance fairness, cost, and long-term relationships.
- Build and document scalable production workflows (production boards, intake templates, post-mock triage), so a distributed set of hosts can operate consistently, and coach hosts with reusable scripts and templates.
YouTube channel management (~15% of your time)
- Work cross-functionally as the hub between hosts, our video editor, curriculum, and marketing so a single shoot feeds every downstream use.
- Get us to a 2x weekly posting cadence on long-form, plus a daily short-form drumbeat. You’ll manage various inputs on priority and help decide the right order of operations.
- Use YouTube SEO best practices and search-powered tools to identify high-performing title candidates, and run A/B tests on titles and thumbnails to maximize click-through and discoverability - if this is new to you, we’ll teach you!
- Engage with our audience by responding to comments, publishing community posts, and maintaining a consistent channel voice that reflects our brand.
SME pipeline strategy (~10% of your time)
- Manage and work directly with our SME recruiters to identify SME needs, grow production output, and be comfortable prepping them with notes, questions, and outlines for filming.
- Set and maintain sourcing criteria (for example, recency of interview experience) that reliably meet our quality bar.
- Establish processes that keep the SME database clean and current, including do-not-collaborate flagging and CRM sync as we work with SMEs.
Your key performance indicators
- Content production: courses / lesson updates, mock interview pipeline (e.g. volume of mocks per month/quarter), Youtube publishing cadence, etc on pace
- Conversion impact: measurable contribution from content to signups and paid conversions.
About you
- 5+ years producing content, ideally within the edtech space
- Strong project management instincts. You keep trackers accurate, hit cadences, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks across multiple hosts and workflows.
- An end-to-end producer, comfortable across the full cycle: ideation and development, sourcing and prepping talent, prescriptive shoot planning, filming logistics, post-production, publishing, and analytics. You'd rather wear many hats than own a single narrow slice.
- Brand- and go-to-market-aware. You treat marketing positioning and distribution as part of production, not a separate step handed off later.
- A clear, kind communicator who can prep hosts, set expectations with talent, and handle difficult conversations gracefully.
- An enabler at heart. You build systems, document what's in your head, and make the work happen through others rather than doing all of it yourself.
- Sound operational judgment. You know when to protect a working system versus overhaul it, and you don't tear out something functional before its replacement is proven at the same scale.
- Data-literate and self-directed. You use metrics to decide what to make next and can operate with minimal oversight.
- A sharp eye for quality and a strong sense of our brand voice.
Nice to haves
- Familiarity with the tech interview or career-prep space.
- Creative producing work or thumbnail design skills.
- Experience working with SMEs, creators, or contract talent at scale.
- Comfort with tools like Notion, Riverside, and YouTube Studio.
