About the job
About Fractional Coordinator, Inc.
Fractional Coordinator, Inc. is a civil rights compliance firm serving higher education, K-12, and public and private institutions. We provide fractional leadership, workplace investigations, policy development, and OCR response support across Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA/Section 504, and Clery Act frameworks. Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, we operate with a core team of five and a contracted practitioner network. Our brand promise is simple: trust, operationalized.
The role
We are hiring a Business Development Specialist to grow our West Coast institutional client base. You will own the full top-of-funnel motion: identifying institutions with compliance needs, initiating contact with decision makers, qualifying opportunities, and advancing them toward engagement. You will work directly with the CEO and the Director of Client Success, and your work will directly shape the growth of the firm. This is a commission-only independent contractor position with uncapped earnings.
What you will do
- Build and manage a pipeline of prospective institutional clients in higher education, K-12, and adjacent sectors
- Conduct outbound outreach by email, phone, and LinkedIn to compliance officers, general counsel, HR leadership, and cabinet-level administrators
- Qualify inbound inquiries and route them to the appropriate service line
- Maintain accurate records in our CRM and report on pipeline health weekly
- Represent the firm at conferences, webinars, and sector events as needed
- Collaborate on outreach messaging, sector campaigns, and market positioning
What we are looking for
- Two or more years of business development, sales, or partnerships experience, ideally selling professional services
- Familiarity with higher education, K-12, or public sector procurement cycles is a strong advantage
- Consultative communication style suited to a compliance-sensitive audience; this is not a high-pressure sales environment
- Comfort working independently in a remote, distributed team
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and standard outreach tooling
- Self-directed operators who are motivated by performance-based compensation will thrive in this role
Compensation
This is a commission-only engagement structured as a 1099 independent contractor relationship. There is no base salary. Earnings are uncapped and tied directly to closed engagements, and commission rates and payment terms are provided in writing before any agreement is signed.
