briidge is a relationship intelligence platform, an AI companion, Shirin, that helps people understand themselves and the people closest to them, grounded in evidence-based psychology.

There are tools that learn your body, your money, even your music taste. Nothing learns your relationships. We're building that: a living psychological profile built across ten evidence-based dimensions, updated through natural conversation, not quizzes. The app is live in closed beta on iOS and Android with an engaged user base that keeps coming back, and we launch publicly later this year.

We're a small senior team that ships fast, and we build with AI-assisted workflows as a first-class part of how we work, not a gimmick.

The role

You'll co-lead engineering alongside our Tech Lead, who anchors backend and systems architecture. You bring the complementary strengths: breadth across the stack, real agentic development experience, and the judgment to improve the product rather than just implement it.

Your first major ownership area is our most ambitious build yet: a multi-party AI experience that understands several people at once and facilitates real conversation between them. It's the hardest engineering problem on our roadmap and the reason this role exists.

Our stack

React Native (mobile), NestJS (backend), TypeScript throughout, PostgreSQL with pgvector, LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI), AWS infrastructure, and modern AI-assisted development workflows including Claude Code.

Who you are

4+ years building with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, with production experience designing and developing features end to end, not just implementing tickets handed to you.
Hands-on with AWS. You are comfortable deploying and operating services in the cloud. Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience is a plus.
Fluent in modern ECMAScript and current TypeScript patterns.
Opinionated about code. You have a clear sense of what good looks like and can steer or correct code toward it instead of shipping whatever came out.
You can review code generated by AI agents. You read a diff critically rather than accepting it because it runs.
Real experience with agentic development. You have worked with tools like Claude Code and understand the plan / execute / review loop as a workflow, not a novelty. You know how skills and MCP tools fit into real development and when they actually speed you up.
You communicate clearly and bring your own ideas. We want someone who improves the product, not someone who waits for a spec.
You care about the problem. We are building for people's closest relationships, and the depth of the engineering reflects the weight of that.
You are based in Canada and legally authorized to work here (citizen or permanent resident). This is a firm requirement; we cannot sponsor visas for this role. Please confirm your status in your application.
