Crown Macro is building a modern financial media and intelligence platform for self-directed investors and traders.
We publish institutional-quality market analysis, operate a growing subscription business, and are developing software that brings together financial research, real-time market context, proprietary data, and actionable intelligence in a product built for the way investors consume information today.
Our ambition is larger than another financial newsletter. We are building the foundation for a new kind of financial media company: part research desk, part software platform, and part live market network.
The Role
We are hiring a Lead Full-Stack Engineer to work directly with our CTO and take substantial ownership of Crown Macro’s technology platform.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role for someone who can move comfortably across the stack. You should be equally willing to design a database schema, build a customer-facing interface, debug an authentication issue, deploy infrastructure, integrate a third-party API, and make a practical product decision when the requirements are still taking shape.
You will own meaningful systems from initial design through production operation. You will be expected to understand the business problem, propose a sensible technical approach, ship it, monitor it, and improve it.
This is not a role for someone who requires a fully specified backlog or wants to work within a narrow technical specialty. It is for an experienced startup engineer who knows how to turn ambiguity into reliable software.
What You’ll Work On
You will help build and operate systems including:
Crown Macro’s subscriber-facing web application
Authentication, account management, and subscription access
Free, paid, and premium product tiers
Stripe billing and subscription lifecycle management
Financial research, market data, and analytics products
Internal publishing, administrative, and operational tools
Event-driven integrations across our CRM, newsletter, analytics, and payment systems
Data pipelines and services supporting market intelligence products
Cloud infrastructure, observability, security, and deployment tooling
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain full-stack product features
Own technical projects from architecture through deployment
Work directly with the CTO to translate business priorities into technical systems
Build reliable APIs, background jobs, integrations, and event-driven workflows
Develop responsive, polished interfaces using Vue and Nuxt
Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and migrations
Build secure authentication, authorization, and subscription-access systems
Integrate services such as Stripe, Auth0, Beehiiv, Brevo, analytics platforms, CRMs, and financial-data providers
Develop and operate AWS infrastructure, including serverless and managed services
Improve automated testing, deployment reliability, monitoring, and incident response
Identify fragile processes and replace them with simpler, more durable systems
Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, quality, complexity, and long-term maintainability
Establish engineering standards as the team grows
Help evaluate and mentor future engineering hires
What We’re Looking For
Significant professional software engineering experience
Experience working in an early-stage or rapidly growing startup
Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills
Deep experience building production web applications across frontend and backend systems
Strong knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
Experience designing APIs, asynchronous jobs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
Practical experience operating applications in AWS or a comparable cloud platform
A strong understanding of authentication, authorization, application security, and payment systems
The ability to debug difficult production issues across application, infrastructure, and database layers
Sound architectural judgment without a tendency to overengineer
Strong written communication and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly
The ability to work independently and make progress with incomplete information
High standards for correctness, reliability, and user experience
Particularly Valuable Experience
Vue/Nuxt production experience
Subscription or membership products
Stripe billing and webhook infrastructure
Auth0 or other identity platforms
Financial technology, market data, trading systems, or financial media
Event-driven architecture and transactional outbox patterns
AWS Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, and serverless systems
PostgreSQL performance tuning and production database operations
Monorepos and shared application packages
Ionic, Capacitor, or mobile development using web technologies
Analytics pipelines, experimentation, and attribution systems
Building internal tools for content, operations, or customer support
