About the job
India · Remote (Bangalore / Delhi / Mumbai hubs) · Full-time · 1–3 years experience
VideoDB is the modern backend for AI agents that see, understand, and act on video. Think Supabase, but for the agentic web's video layer: universal ingestion, scene-level indexing, retrieval that returns playable outputs, and streaming — all behind a clean API.
We're a small, engineering-heavy team building for developers worldwide, with real customers and real usage. Our next few months are packed: product launches, new repos, blog posts, and a growing community across SF, Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. We need one smart, hungry person to run the growth engine behind all of it — end to end, in-house.
You won't be handed a playbook. You'll write it, ship it, measure it, and improve it — working directly with the founder.
The role in one line
You grow VideoDB's presence among developers — social channels, launch campaigns, and community — and you manage all of it yourself, start to finish.
What your day-to-day looks like
- Run our social channels (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Discord). Write posts, threads, and launch announcements. Turn what our engineers ship into content developers actually want to read. Post consistently, watch what works, double down.
- Run campaigns for every launch — a new feature, a blog post, an open-source repo, a demo. You plan the rollout (X, Hacker News, Product Hunt, newsletters, communities), write the copy, coordinate assets, ship it, and report what happened.
- Manage our organic community. Welcome new members, answer questions or route them to engineers, surface interesting projects people build, keep Discord/forums alive. Support our meetups in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, and SF.
- Turn engineering output into marketing. Sit with the team, understand what we shipped, and translate it — a changelog into a thread, a repo into a launch, a customer use case into a story.
- Track the numbers. Followers → signups → first API call → active usage. Keep a simple weekly dashboard. Every campaign gets a before/after.
A typical week: 2–3 days on content and social, 1 day on an active launch or campaign, the rest on community, metrics, and planning with the founder.
What we're looking for
- 1–3 years doing marketing, growth, social, or community for a dev tool, infra, or API company — ideally one serving US/SF-based startups or developers. You know what dev audiences respond to and what makes them roll their eyes.
- You've grown a social channel or community yourself — a company account, a project, even your own. Show us the graph.
- You write well and fast, especially short-form. Threads, launch posts, docs-adjacent copy. You'll be writing every day.
- You can run things end to end without a team — no designer, no agency, no manager breaking work down for you. You figure it out, ship it, and own the result.
- You're comfortable in the AI/dev ecosystem — you know what MCP, Claude Code, or an SDK is, or you can learn fast enough that it doesn't matter. You can read a docs page and tell if it's good.
- You work India hours with US overlap when launches or community moments need it.
Nice to have
- You've done a Hacker News or Product Hunt launch before.
- You've made short demo videos or walkthroughs that don't feel cringe.
- You've contributed to open source, or hang out where builders do.
- You have a personal audience, newsletter, or side project you've grown.
Why this role is a big deal
- You own a whole function. Most junior marketers execute someone else's plan. Here, the plan is yours — with the founder as your sounding board, not your bottleneck.
- The category is being defined right now. Video as data infrastructure for AI agents. The people who tell this story early get to shape it.
- Fast feedback. Small team, real users, launches every few weeks. You'll see the results of your work in days, not quarters.
- Growth path. Do this well for 12–18 months and you're the person who built dev marketing at an AI infra company — a rare, valuable profile.
- Comp. Competitive cash + early-stage equity.
How to apply
Tell us:
- One channel, campaign, or community you grew — and the numbers.
- What you'd post about VideoDB in your first week (be specific — draft a tweet if you want).
- One thing we're doing badly on social or community right now.
Short and direct beats long and polished. We move fast.
