About the job
About TaxDome
At TaxDome, we’re building the #1 practice management platform for accounting firms in the US and globally. Founded in 2017, we’ve grown into a 400+ fully remote team across 40+ countries, serving tens of thousands of businesses worldwide with millions of end clients.
How we work
You’ll be part of a globally distributed team built on trust, ownership, and self-management.
We focus on outcomes over activity — prioritizing clear ownership, pragmatic decision-making, and accountability for results over rigid processes. Collaboration is central to how we operate: we communicate openly, involve the right people early, and continuously improve how we build products and teams together.
About this role
TaxDome is pivoting from a traditional SaaS to an AI-first engineering organization. We aren't just adding AI features, we are rebuilding our DNA to prioritize agentic workflows, LLM-orchestration, and automated intelligence at the core of our tech stack.
We’re looking for a Staff-level product engineer to own an autonomous domain end to end. This is an individual-contributor role — no direct reports — but you lead the technical direction of your domain and organize the people and the work around it. The foundation is strong software engineering: you reason about distributed systems, data integrity, and trade-offs from experience — that’s the bar. On top of that you work AI-first, using AI throughout to build, test, and ship. You own the roadmapand stay hands-on across the whole lifecycle of your domain.
It’s a fully remote role, we are hiring across European timezones.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Own a domain end to end Domain ownership: Own a product domain — tied to one of the company's key initiatives — from problem to production. Set the roadmap, make the technical calls, and carry accountability for stability and delivery, with no hand-offs. Fast delivery: Move from idea to production quickly, using AI to cut the cost of specs, tests, and docs.
- Work AI-first AI in the daily loop: Use AI tools to write and refactor code, generate tests and specs, and debug. A repeatable process: Build a working process around AI and keep improving it, rather than one-off prompting. Quality gate: Review AI output against sound engineering judgment, catch what's wrong, and keep "AI slop" out of production.
- Lead the technical work Scope and unblock: Take ambiguous problems, align the people involved, and clear blockers without being asked. Set the standards: Define the engineering standards for your domain, including how and where to integrate LLMs when they fit — prompt handling, output validation, cost. Hold the bar: Keep code tested, maintainable, and properly reviewed. AI speeds the work up; it doesn't lower the standard for what ships. Ship and iterate: Release a v1 and improve it from there.
What you bring
- Engineering foundation (the core bar) Staff-level software engineering: you reason about distributed systems, data integrity, and trade-offs from experience. Strong full-stack expertise across modern web ecosystems. A track record of shipping and owning production systems, and/or your own projects, in high-accountability environments. Product-owner mindset: you turn ambiguous requirements into a clear, prioritized roadmap without middle-management alignment. Strong English communication skills.
- AI-first way of working AI is part of your daily development loop — you're fluent with modern AI coding tools and pick what fits the task instead of being tied to one vendor. Comfortable with prompt engineering and working with LLM APIs. You read model output critically: validate it, catch errors, and keep "AI slop" out of production. Good sense of when AI helps and when to fall back on your own engineering judgment.
- Nice to have Experience building agentic or MCP-based features — useful, not required.
