Role Overview
The Backend Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining server-side applications and APIs that support FOY's products and services. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Node.js, Golang, cloud infrastructure, and containerized environments. This role requires a problem-solver who can work in a fast-paced startup environment and contribute to building scalable technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
Build robust microservices and backend systems using Node.js and Golang.
Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality features.
Design and implement database schemas, queries, and performance optimizations.
Develop and maintain cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Build and manage containerized applications using Docker.
Implement security best practices, authentication mechanisms, and data protection measures.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the technology stack.
Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs for storefront, checkout, catalog, inventory, orders, and post-purchase flows.
Build on and extend Medusa.js — custom modules, services, subscribers, workflows, and API routes.
Write clean, well-tested Node.js / TypeScript code.
Design relational schemas and write strong, efficient SQL — complex queries, joins, indexing, and query optimization; own migrations.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
4–8 years of experience in backend development.
Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Golang.
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
Strong understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
Knowledge of Git, version control systems, and collaborative development workflows.
Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Prior experience building or maintaining e-commerce / online retail backends.
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based collaborative workflows.
Preferred / Bonus Skills
Deep familiarity with Medusa.js internals (modules, workflows, subscribers, event bus).
Experience with high-traffic or D2C e-commerce.
Familiarity with Docker for local development
Hands-on experience with Medusa.js strongly preferred — or a comparable headless / composable commerce platform (commercetools, Saleor, Vendure, Shopify), with a genuine willingness to go deep on Medusa..
Preferred Skills

Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Familiarity with Redis, message queues, and caching mechanisms.
Experience in high-traffic or SaaS applications.
Knowledge of serverless architecture and cloud-native development.
Experience working in startups or fast-growing technology companies.
