About the job

About Fullcourt
Fullcourt is where hoopers find their run. Pickup basketball's infrastructure — the group chats, the open gyms, the standing Saturday runs — broke down over the last five years, and nobody rebuilt it. We are: a consumer mobile app
where you can see your city's pickup scene live, find a game, and host your own. 70,000+ registered players (registered, not active — we're honest about being pre-product-market-fit; getting there is the mission), four concentration
cities, engagement time per active user well above sports/social benchmarks, creator content pulling millions of views, and live events with pro players on the calendar.

The role
You'll be a founding engineer working directly with the CTO on a small, fast codebase with real users. This is growth-stage-zero engineering: activation funnels, deep links, migration tooling, event pages, instrumentation — the
features that turn a downloaded app into a Saturday habit. You'll ship things that get used at a real court the same week.

The stack
React Native + Expo consumer app, Supabase (Postgres), a Next.js admin portal on AWS (ECS), and a legacy Meteor/MongoDB layer we're steadily migrating off. If that last part made you smile instead of wince, you're our kind of
pragmatist.

What you'll own

  • Activation and retention features: onboarding, notifications, the host-a-game flow (our North Star metric)
  • Crew migration tooling — one-tap import of an existing basketball group chat into Fullcourt
  • Event infrastructure for creator- and pro-anchored IRL runs (deep links, public pages, recaps)
  • Analytics instrumentation so we make decisions on data, not vibes
  • Real architectural input — the migration roadmap is genuinely open to your judgment

Who you are

  • You've shipped consumer product at startup pace — ideally somewhere that had to find PMF, not just scale it
  • You're full-stack and product-minded: you ask what a feature is for before asking how to build it
  • Years in big tech and recently impacted? Your systems discipline plus our zero-bureaucracy speed is exactly the trade we're offering
  • You play, played, or love basketball. Our best product decisions come from people who know what a good run feels like

Ways to stand out
None of these are required — but each one maps to something we're actively doing, so tell us which apply:

  • Hands-on with our exact stack: React Native, Expo (including EAS build/submit/update), Next.js, Supabase
  • You've owned iOS and Android release processes end to end — App Store / Play Store submissions, review cycles, phased rollouts, hotfixes
  • You've built CI and release workflows for mobile or web (GitHub Actions or similar) and believe unshipped code is worthless
  • Mobile E2E testing with Maestro (or you've made another E2E stack actually stick on a small team)
  • RevenueCat or comparable in-app subscription/paywall experience — we have a live $4.99/mo subscription to grow
  • Comfortable working from Figma and shipping pixel-respecting UI without a dedicated design team
  • You use AI and agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) as a real force multiplier, not a party trick — we build this way daily and want teammates who do too

Compensation, honestly
No salary today. 1–3% equity depending on experience and commitment; cash comp is the first thing we fix as revenue and funding land. Founding ownership, direct impact, no layers.

To apply: email [email protected] with subject "Founding Engineer — [your name]" with your GitHub/portfolio. Tell us the product you're proudest of shipping, one thing you'd fix about any pickup basketball experience you've had — and
what basketball means to you.
