Senior Backend Python Developer

₹14L – ₹16L · Remote (India) · Flexible hours

We are looking for a Senior Back End Python Developer with proven experience in payment systems, third-party API integrations, and data acquisition pipelines. You will own the server-side logic that powers our payment flows, drives our data ingestion architecture, and connects our platform to a growing ecosystem of external services.

This is a high-ownership backend role. You will design and build the Python services, async workers, and integration layers that handle money movement, merchant onboarding, and real-time data collection. You will work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, compliance leads, and external payment processor partners to ship reliable, scalable, and PCI-DSS-aware systems.

What you'll work on

• Payment & PayFac integrations — Merchant onboarding, KYC/KYB flows, webhooks, reconciliation pipelines
• Third-party API integrations — REST, GraphQL, OAuth 2.0, secrets management, resilient clients with retry and circuit-breaker logic
• Data pipelines & scraping — Scrapy, Playwright, httpx; normalization, deduplication, scheduled jobs with observability
• Backend platform — FastAPI / Django REST Framework, Celery workers, PostgreSQL, async Python at production scale

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of professional back end engineering experience with Python as a primary language.
• Hands-on experience integrating with at least one payment processor or PayFac platform (Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, Square, Finix, WePay, or similar) in a production environment.
• Proven experience building and maintaining web scrapers or data acquisition pipelines at meaningful scale.
• Deep familiarity with REST API integration patterns: authentication flows, pagination, rate limiting, idempotency, and error handling.
• Proficiency with async Python (asyncio, httpx, aiohttp) and task queue frameworks (Celery or RQ).
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) — query optimization, indexing, and schema design.
• Experience with message brokers or event streaming (Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS/SNS).
• Understanding of PCI-DSS principles, tokenization, and secure handling of sensitive financial data.
• Comfortable working with Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong written English — able to produce integration specs, technical RFCs, and incident postmortems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with PayFac-as-a-Service platforms such as Stripe Connect (Express/Custom), Adyen for Platforms, or Finix — including split-payment, escrow, and payout flows.
• Familiarity with ACH, wire transfer, or card network settlement mechanics and reconciliation accounting.
• Knowledge of open banking APIs (Plaid, MX, Finicity, or TrueLayer) for bank account verification or transaction enrichment.
• Experience with large-scale distributed scraping infrastructure — Scrapy clusters, proxy pool management, or browser farm orchestration.
• Background with data warehousing or analytical pipelines (dbt, Airflow, Prefect, or AWS Glue).
• Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform or AWS CDK) and Kubernetes / ECS container orchestration.
• Prior work in a fintech, payments, or marketplace startup environment with direct ownership of payment reliability.

Compensation & Benifits

• Base salary: ₹14L - ₹16L depending on experience, payments domain depth, and location.
